Encore—for all your quality second hand laundered clothing Each week, the team collect and sort over 800 kilograms of donated clothing. The best items are selected for sale in Encore Clothing which is our second hand clothing outlet (open from 9:00am to 4:00pm, Monday to Friday). All items are washed and ironed before being sold. Encore also offers our customers a loyalty card. Customers spending $100 or more are eligible to receive a $20 voucher. For those looking for a special retail experience, we recommend an Encore Evening. See overleaf for more details. To make a donaon, simply drop your items in our clothing bins located at the Windsor Precinct (near the child care centre), Norwood Shopping Centre, the PCYC at Newstead or Self Help Workplace. Large donaons can be dropped at the office from Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm. Industrial Cleaning Rags Clothing not suitable for sale is turned into industrial cleaning rags or bulk sold onto other clothing and rag outlets. Keeping up with the demand for flannelee, t shirt and towelling which make the best cleaning rags is always a challenge. So, if you are sorng out your linen cupboard or wardrobe, remember, that coon clothing and sheets can have a second life as cleaning rags. Clean up Australia Day—Container Deposit Scheme Self Help Workplace is also looking to be involved in a container deposit recycling scheme if one is established in Tasmania. The team recently parcipated in the Clean Up Australia Day to showcase the opportunies to build a social enterprise supporng the scheme that could provide more employment opportunies for people with a disability. Customised timber packaging for agriculture and manufacturing Vineyards and wine producers throughout the state are turning to Self Help Workplace for high quality produce bins for their valuable product. Manufactured to the customer’s specifications for still and sparking wines, the team can also add the company’s name to promote the business and distinguish their products. The team have also produced an impressive array of berry picking stands for Costas, one of the country’s largest food producers. Manufacturers also use Self Help Workplace’s customised packaging expertise to get their specialised products to customers on the mainland and overseas, particularly China and the USA. Below are boxes specifically made for an order of steel chains forged by Bradken for a major USA customer who is delighted with the quality of the product.

Self Help Workplace owns a 24 seat bus that is available to community groups and not for profit organisations for casual hire. The bus is primarily used to transport our employees into town every weekday afternoon, it is generally available at other times of the day and on the weekends. Bus availability Monday to Friday: between 8:30am and 3:15pm and from 4:30pm Weekends and Public Holidays: all day

Thank you and goodbye A few weeks ago, Self Help Workplace joined with the northern Tasmanian community to mark the passing of two stalwarts of the timber industry—Larry Jarman of Exeter Sawmill and Fred Ralph of Timber Resources/Net Sea Freight. Both gentleman were generous supporters of Self Help Workplace, keen to secure good value timber supplies for us and support the enterprise to find new markets for our products. As suppliers, customers and members of Self Help Workplace, we will miss their friendship and support. We extend our condolences to their families, friends and colleagues.
