Serbia & Montenegro


• In the middle of the XVIII century almost 50 shipsoperated on the Sava river

• First passenger line Sisak – Zemun started in 1844

• About 9 mil. T in 1982;• Activities were stopped during

the war• By 1991 national river in SFRJ -

navigation just under the flag of SFRJ

• Since 2005 (FASRB) free navigation for merchant ships of all flags

Rehabilitation of the Navigation –Current State of the Fairway

• The parameters of the fairway cause unfavorable conditions for navigation, mainly due to:− Limited draught over long periods,− Limited width and sharp river bends that restrict the

size of vessels and convoys,− Limited height to pass under some bridges.

• The current poor condition caused by long periods of very deficient maintenance.


Rehabilitation of the Navigation-Measures

• Identified need for improvements (Conceptual Design):- Training works and dredging (19 locations);- River bend improvements (20 locations);- Bridges (3 locations);- River Information Services.

• Estimated construction costs (rkm 0-rkm 594)- Class IV: 80,7 mil. EUR; and- Class Va: 86,4 mil. EUR.


Rehabilitation of the Navigation-Activities in Progress

• Detailed Design sector Brčko (rkm 234) – Sisak (rkm 594)

− Contract signed in April 2013 and inception phase finished,

− Duration 20 months,− Financing IPA Croatia.

• Detailed Design and EIA sector Belgrade (rkm 0) – Brčko (rkm 234)

− Contract signed in the September 2013,− Duration 18 months,− Financing IPA B&H.


Follow up to the RIS Project 1• Final Report adopted 24.06.2010.

• Main outcomes:

−Detailed Design of the RIS System;

−Prototype Installation;

−Technical Specification;

−Tender Documentation.

• Final Report presented and deliverd to the Sava Countries for implementation.


Follow up of the RIS Project 2

• Implementation:

− Finished in Serbia (cca. 220 rkm);

− Croatia: tender procedure in the final phase (contract

will be signed in the first quarter of the 2014);

− Preparatory activities in B&H (financing negotiations

underway).

• Prototypes are still in operation in Croatia and B&H.


Follow up of the RIS Project 3

• Cooperation with RIS Authorities in Serbia and Croatia (access to the AIS data)


Other activities 1

• DECISION – 15/12 on RULES ON HARMONISED RIVER INFORMATION SERVICES (RIS) ON THE SAVA RIVER BASIN was adopted , 2012

• DECISION – 16/12 on PRODUCTION AND UPDATE OF THE INLAND ELECTRONIC NAVIGATIONAL CHARTS (IENC) FOR THE SAVA RIVER BASIN was adopted, 2012

• Concept for the production of the paper IENC was also adopted – next step: exploration of the possibilities for production of the paper IENC for the one test sector of the Sava River

• “Rules on Cross Border Data Exchange in the Framework of the RIS in the Sava River Basin” are still under discussion in the framework of the Ah RIS Expert Group (close cooperation with ERI Expert Group)

beginning of the year

• Web application is used for Danube in Croatia also
