SEEPEX – ROCKWASH OPERATING PROCEDURE

START – UP

- Prior to staring seepex add water to hopper using the flush lines and jet as running dry will damage

the seppex

.

- Run with water for a short time around 6 – 10 hz to ensure everything is working properly before

adding solids.

- Once ready to introduce solids pull the auger discharge gates and allow solids to enter the hopper

but first run auger to chata to remove any dry solids from augers as to prevent any dry large lumps of

solids to enter the seepex as I may cause damage. Note that augers do not need to be run while using

seppex as the centrifuges discharge directly to the hopper this will prevent further wear of the

augers, but may be started at any time to transfer solids to chata if needed.

Operation

- While running rock wash or dewatering use the seepex to return the solids discharge from the

centrifuges to the rock wash system via seepex while adding a small amount of water to thin the

solids to make them more easily pumped thru seepex.

- Run the seepex around 15 – 20 hz depending on amount of solids that are present, always maintain

enough water and solids as to not run seepex dry, proper amount is so the seepex auger is just below

the volume in the tank and the auger is not visible

.

- Using the hopper flush line to ensure that solids slide down hopper to auger and if needed run the

bottom jet to break up the solids but do not jet to much just enough to ensure easy pumping of the

seepex and to allow mixture to flow thru the spray bar on the shaker and to prevent hose from

plugging off with thick solids.

- Only run solids from rock wash and dewatering thru seepex.

- Any weighted mud is to be deweighted and discharging the barite to the chata excessive amount

much barite will overload the shaker. Once mud is deweighted you can then proceed to dewater the

mud running thru seepex to rock wash shaker.

- LGS solids are also to be discharged to chata and not run thru the seepex system. Only solids that

have been introduced to dewatering with the use of polymers are to be run thru the seepex.

- As solids levels increase and decrease thru the drilling process you will need to watch the level in the

hopper adjusting the seepex rate or water rate to maintain proper mixture and levels at all times.

SHUT DOWN

- Once drilling has or dewatering process has finished stop the flow of solids into the hopper, increase

the amount of water and continue to run seepex at a rate of 6 – 10 hz as to clean the hopper and to

flush all of the solids from the seepex system.

- Ensure all solids have been flushed and that there is only clean water discharging thru the spray bar

to the shaker, also make sure that spray bar on shaker is cleaned of all solids as any remaining solids

will dry and harden plugin the holes preventing improper distribution onto the shaker upon next use.

Also any plugged holes in spray bar will increase the pressure in the hose from the seepex and will

result in damage as seepex pump is a positive pressure displacement pump and can create high

pressure causing damage to hose or seepex.

- Finish with removing most of the water from the hopper and turn off seepex but do not run dry in

the process as that will cause damage, it is okay to leave small amount of water in bottom of hopper

- Ensure gates from auger are installed to prevent any solids from entering the seepex while not in use.

Notes

- This system is designed to minimize the use of the chata as much as possible, chata may be used to

deweight mud and for LGS also for back up if needed.

- Never run seepex dry or with only solids as to prevent damage to seepex and plugin of the system.

- Always make sure system is cleaned and flushed before shutting down.

- Always check seepex hopper before starting, make sure nothing has been dropped into hopper and

no dry solids are present as it will cause damage, always keep screen covers on at all time while in

use or not to prevent objects from entering hopper.

- For flush only use rock wash water do not use fresh water as to prevent adding excessive water to

system.
