SEAL THE DEAL: The Dodgers tonight look to sweep the Reds
and win their fourth-consecutive game in the finale of this three-
game series. Following last night’s 8-2 victory, Los Angeles can win
its ninth in a row over Cincinnati and sweep the Reds for the first
time since July 25-27, 2013. The Dodgers’ winning streak over the
Reds is their longest active streak against any opponent and the
club’s most against Cincinnati since winning nine in a row in 2008-
09. Tomorrow, the Dodgers head out on a seven-game road trip to
New York (3 games) and Chicago (4).
This evening is Adrian Gonzalez bobblehead night,
presented by Time Warner Cable and the first 40,000 fans
in attendance will receive a “celebrating” Gonzalez
likeness. There will also be a special Mariachi performance
at 6:35 p.m. featuring songs selected by Gonzo himself.
HOW ABOUT THAT PEN?: Last night, the Dodger bullpen tossed
3.1 perfect innings and has now allowed just two runs in its last 20.0
innings of work. The Dodgers’ 3.60 bullpen ERA ranks sixth in the
National League while its .210 opponents average ranks second,
trailing only the Cubs (.192).
Dodger reliever Joe Blanton is in the midst of a scoreless-
innings streak of 6.2 frames, dating to May 16. Blanton,
who signed one-year deal in January, leads the team in
appearances (22) and is tops among Dodger relievers in
opponents’ batting average (.141).
Highlighted by his stellar 3.0-innng performance on
Sunday, J.P. Howell has tossed 5.1 scoreless innings in his
last three outings while allowing only one hit.
ELECTION YEAR: All-Star balloting is underway online at
Dodgers.com/vote, where fans can cast their votes for starters a total
of 35 times with the 2016 Esurance MLB All-Star Game Ballot,
including a maximum of five valid ballots cast in any 24-hour period.
Get clicking, because voting ends Thursday, June 30 at 8:59 p.m. PT.
GREAT SCOTT: Dodger hurler Scott Kazmir will take the mound
for his 10th start of the season tonight, looking to creep above .500 (3-3)
with his fourth victory. Kazmir recorded his first win as a Dodger at
Dodger Stadium in his last home start, going 8.2 innings against the St.
Louis Cardinals on Sunday Night Baseball. Kazmir has faced the Reds
just one time in his career, allowing one run in 7.0 innings for the Indians
on May 30, 2013.
Dodger pitchers rank second in the Majors with 415
strikeouts, behind only Washington (437).
The Dodgers’ 2.88 ERA at home ranks third in the Major
Leagues and is more than a run better than their road ERA
(4.27, 11th-NL).
POWER HOUR: Among current National League players, Chase
Utley’s 18 career homers against Cincinnati are tied for fifth with
Matt Holliday. Adrián González’s 15 homers against the Reds are
tied for ninth among current NL players and he has done his damage
in just 57 games, averaging a homer every 15.27 at-bats when facing
the Redlegs.
Utley leads the Dodgers with a .382 on-base-percentage and
has posted a .392 OBP in 18 games this month, which ranks
second on the squad (Trayce Thompson, .393).
ON THE MEND: Scott Van Slyke (low back irritation) played his
second rehab game last night, starting at first base for Triple-A
Oklahoma City and going 0-for-4 with a run scored in Fresno. This
afternoon, Van Slyke batted second and was the designated hitter,
going 1-for-4 with a run scored in the OKC Dodgers’ 8-1 loss.
Also this afternoon in Fresno, Dodger starter Hyun-Jin
Ryu started and tossed 4.0 scoreless for Triple-A Oklahoma
City, allowing four hits and striking out three. Ryu made 55

SEEING RED: In the last 10 seasons, the Dodgers have been
nothing short of dominant against the Reds:

Washington Nationals 37-22 (.627)
Pittsburgh Pirates 43-29 (.597) SOURCE: STATS, LLC
YOUNG BUCK: Rookie shortstop Corey Seager went 1-for-3 with
a run scored and a walk last night and has posted a .291/.351/.535
slashline in the month of May. Seager has hit six doubles, five
homers and 11 RBI in 22 games this month and ranks among the NL
May leaders in hits (24, T-11th) and home runs (T-9th).
SIMPLY A-MAY-ZING: Dodger rookie outfielder Trayce
Thompson went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored last night
and his six home runs this month are tied for fourth in the NL.
Thompson has posted a .315/.393/.704 slashline in 17 May games,
going 17-for-54 with three doubles, and also ranking among the NL
leaders with 14 RBI (T-9th) and slugging percentage (.704, 2nd).

places him fourth in the National League in home batting average
(min. 50 plate appearances).
According to Stats, LLC, Thompson and Corey Seager are
the first pair of Dodger rookies ever to hit five or more home
runs each in the same month.
SHUT THE DOOR: Kenley Jansen is tied for sixth in the Majors
with 13 saves, while allowing three runs in 19 appearances (1.50
ERA, 3 ER/18.0 IP) and limiting opponents to a .164 batting average
(10-for-61) with 20 strikeouts against just one walk.
With 155 career saves, Jansen is just six saves shy of Eric
Gagné’s club record.
SKIP THE CAR: The newly completed Expo line between
downtown L.A. and Santa Monica is now an option for fans to get to
and from Dodger Stadium. Fans can gain access to the Metro Expo
Line from downtown L.A.’s 7th and Metro Center station, transfer to
the Red or Purple Line to Union Station and take the Dodger Stadium
Express bus service to the stadium. Complete details on the Dodger

turning balls in play into outs, the Dodgers are the second-best NL
team, trailing only the Cubs, with a 72.1% efficiency rating
according to Baseball-Reference.com.
The Dodgers have used 234 defensive shifts this year, the
fifth-fewest among NL teams according to FanGraphs.
STOP JOSHING ME: On this date two years ago, Dodger starter
Josh Beckett twirled the 21st no-hitter in Dodger franchise history,
the 11th in L.A. Dodger history and first since Hideo Nomo’s in
1996. It was Beckett’s first no-hitter, as he joined Randy Johnson,
Dave Stewart, Jack Morris, Bret Saberhagen, Bob Gibson, Sandy
Koufax, Lew Burdette and Don Larsen as the only pitchers in MLB
history to be selected World Series MVP and throw a no-hitter. The
right-hander tossed a career-high 128 pitches against the Phillies,
walked three and became the oldest pitcher (34 years, 10 days) to fire
a no-hitter since Randy Johnson hurled his perfect game on May 18,
2004 at 40 years and 251 days old.
