The Shoalhaven is known for its largely unspoilt natural beauty. SeeChange Jervis Bay Arts Festival shows a lesser known aspect of our region, as a haven for artists, performers, poets, writers, musicians, and culinary talent.

SeeChange is proudly presented by Jervis Bay and Basin Arts Inc. Our not-for-profit community association – run entirely by dedicated volunteers – has been cultivating cultural arts in our region for 20 years.

We have been staging SeeChange since 2000. This year sees the 11th festival and its move to being an annual event, strengthening its presence as a cultural beacon in the Shoalhaven.

SeeChange 2019 is once again a recipient of Destination NSW Regional Flagship Event funding to promote the event to out of area audiences. With this marketing support we expect the festival to enjoy high numbers of local, regional and interstate visitors to cultural arts events on the program.

You are warmly invited to be part of SeeChange 2019. Register your own event today.

Eligible events

SeeChange Jervis Bay Arts Festival 2019 is pleased to include in the program events hosted and presented by members of the community that celebrate the creativity, culture and cuisine of our region. For hospitality venues this might be: bands; singers; cabaret suppers; long table lunches with a talk by a chef, and so on. An example of an event at other venues could be an after dark show of tattoo art in a salon.

InsuranceProperty Damage Insurance held by Jervis Bay and Basin Arts Inc. does not cover accidental or malicious damage, theft or loss of artworks. Insurance of artworks is the sole responsibility of the artist.

Public Liability Insurance held by Jervis Bay and Basin Arts Inc. provides public liability and personal injury cover to its members, volunteers and third parties during any festival activity where a person may be injured as a direct result of a cultural arts event. For example, a painting falls on a visitor’s foot. ArtPath registrationsThe festival ArtPath is a string of small scale, solo or shared art shows staged by members of Jervis Bay and Basin Arts in houses and studios in and around the local area. The intention for the ArtPath is that it is:

• A rewarding, memorable experience for everyone involved - artists, venue hosts and visitors alike

• A valuable opportunity for local artists to enhance their practice, and promote and sell their work.

Consistent opening hoursArtPath artists are asked to make every effort to have their exhibitions open for the 10 days of the festival Saturday 01 - Monday 10 June 2019 / 10-4pm daily. This is to make access for visitors as easy and convenient as possible.

Meet the Maker eventsExhibiting artists are encouraged to hold a Meet the Maker(s) event where visitors get a chance to meet the creators and deepen their appreciation of the creative thinking and process involved in making the art and craft on show. These events:

• Usually last about 2 hours

• Are designed to give insight into the inspiration, vision and process of the artist/maker (rather than focus on food and alcohol)

• Provide refreshments at the artist’s cost

• Are hospitable and welcoming affairs

• Include the Acknowledgement of Country used by JBBArts (see cover).

An information kit for registered exhibitors will be provided in early May.

Other opportunities for JBBArts membersMembers of JBBArts are encouraged to take advantage of other opportunities to show and sell artwork during SeeChange 2019 including:

• Submit works into the Making Community (non-selective) exhibition exclusively for members

• Entering the Haven Visual Arts and Small Sculpture Prize which has a $1000 prize category exclusively for JBBArts Members.
