In 1902 Justus P. Seeburg (1871–1958; immigrated fromSweden in 1887) founded the "Justus P. Seeburg" company toproduce coin-operated paper-roll playing electric pianos and

orchestrions. In 1927 the amplified sound became morepopular and Seeburg presented their first jukebox, the

Melatone. In 1940 they also did produce record changers forradio-phonograph conbinations.

Seeburg jukeboxes had been imported to Germany by themain importer LÖWEN Automaten from 1953 to somewhen in

the 60s, later by Seerose Ltd. Afterwards they wereimported by SEEVEND, Seeburg's new founded importcompany in Hamburg in 6/1961. In France Socodimexdistributed Seeburg jukeboxes. In 1961 the Seeburg

Automatic Products Pty. was founded for sitributing Seeburgin Australia. In August 1962 Seerome S.p.A., Rome, Italy was

estalished for distributing South-Europe with Seeburgjukeboxes and vending machines. In 1964 Seeburg aquired

the companies United Music Corp. (only the amusementgame assets) and Williams Mfg.Corp.

In 1979 after model SMC2 was introduced, Seeburg wasclosed. The name rights should be moving within the

following years several times. In 8/1980 Stern completed thepurchase of major assets of Seeburg and did produce amodified version of SMC2. Within the following years

Seeburg jukeboxes were built by Seeburg International resp.Seeburg Phonograph Corp. with chairman Ed Blankenbecker

(1985) and Jukebox USA Inc. There are also Mexican productions with the name

"Seeburg" known.
