ANTI-VIRUS SOFTWARE
A virus is a program which has been created to interfere with computer systems. They are spread by Infected discs E-mail Internet
Organisations should instal and regularly update anti-virus software. This scans files and disinfects them if viruses are found. In Oban High we us SOPHOS.

BACK-UP PROCEDUREComputer data should be backed up regularly in case
information is lost, damaged or accidentally deleted

DATA PROTECTION ACT
This is a law which protects personal data held about a data subject (living individual). Organisations holding such data must comply with the Data Protection Act. The data user (organisation holding the data) must register with the Data Protection Registrar.
The act states that data subjects have the right to see information which is held on them.
