The Shri Ram Early Years (TSEY)
If I had my child to raise all over again,
I’d build self-esteem first, and the house later.
I’d finger-paint more, and point the finger less.
I would do less correcting and more connecting.
I’d take my eyes off my watch, and watch with my eyes.
I’d take more hikes and fly more kites.
I’d stop playing serious, and seriously play.
I would run through more fields and gaze at more stars.
I’d do more hugging and less tugging.
– Diane Loomans, from “If I Had My Child To Raise Over Again”
We facilitate an ongoing process of growth in a
safe, supportive and nurturing environment, where
each child is valued for her unique personality.
In the early years learning is non-formal. Children are encourgaged to
explore the environment through the senses. They are encouraged to reach
their potential through motivation and proper guidance. Learning by doing
helps to make children confident, responsible and capable. We also believe in
a three way partnership; the parent, the teacher and the environment play
an important and crucial role in the growth and development of the child.
We aim at fostering ‘people’ who are confident and have a positive
approach to learning. Our flexibility in approach allows each child the
freedom to develop her own personality within the framework of the
school format, in preparation for formal schooling in later years.
The TSEY Parent
A child is only little for such a little while
Their world is interpreted by your expressions
Please always try to smile!
Your eyes are the mirror of how they see their own self worth
From the moment they look up at you, begining with their birth
Continuing on as the days slip by
They will search your face to see
Am I ok? Am I good? Will you always cherish me?
What will look back at them, will eyes of love be there?
When grown up will their memory be one of tender care?
These precious years will fly by so very, very fast
Before we even blink our eyes the present is the past
The time to help them love themselves is now while they are small
Because in your eyes they see you as the biggest judge of all
They will carry into adulthood the reflections from your eyes
Measuring their own self worth, they won’t think to realize
That how you treated them in their early years
Reflects a happy life or one that’s filled with tears
Insecurities and doubt will no doubt plaque them as well
So let your eyes express your love, it’s how a child can tell

The TSEY Experience
The TSEY Mission
The TSEY parent in one who loves her child the way she is and delights in her achievement of the little
milestones every day.
We like to encourage good communication and understanding between home and school. Parents partner
with the school and form an integral part of the events and activities of their child.
Teachers at TSEY create an intellectually engaging, responsive environment in which to promote each
child’s learning and development.
They have an inner drive to take on challenges, and the passion and energy to enjoy their work. They have
the multifaceted task of guiding children, while making the classroom bright and cheerful and planning
lessons to make the learning experience for children creative and thought provoking.
The TSEY Environment
Children should love to come to school. The atmosphere at
TSEY is warm and welcoming. The classrooms are designed to
be spacious and airy for movement to suit the growing needs of
the children. Display boards are attractive and have the children’s
work on display. Activity corners enable children to get into “Choice
Time” as they choose the activity corner they would like to work in. Child
friendly furniture that is comfortable and easy to access forms the basics
of a classroom. A big mat, a variety of toys and materials on eye level
shelves motivate children to use them.
Child centered environment - the focus is on the child and the aim is to enable her to develop at her
own pace.
Focus on individual progress and development - balanced activities and experiences are planned to
enable each child to enjoy learning and better her best.
Hands on learning - children learn through fun filled activities. The equipment and materials are easy to
handle and accessible for the children.
Developing communication skills - listeing and being listened to, articulating thoughts and ideas, widening
one’s vocabulary, role-play, pre-reading and pre-writing skills.
Developing critical thinking skills - sequencing, recognizing size, shapes, quantities, contrast, reasoning
and other pre-math skills.
Choice time activities - children are free to move to different activity corners and choose to work on an
activity of their choice. They could choose to look at a story book, play with blocks, draw or colour, play
with dough and fulfill their curiosity in the discovery room.
Self development activities - activities related to developing values and skills that make the children
responsible and sensitive.
An integrated approach to learning - linking concepts with art, music, dance, drama and physical activity.
Emphasis is on a balance between indoor and outdoor activities.
Developing sound values - respect and care towards the environment and attention to healthy and
active body.
Developing sensitivity - children should be able to work compassionately with children of different
abilities, cultures and communities.
It’s not only children who grow. Parents do too. As much as we watch to see
what our children do with their lives, they are watching us to see what we do with
ours. I can’t tell my children to reach for the sun. All I can do is reach for it, myself.
– Joyce Maynard
The TSEY Teacher The TSEY Approach
The environment is positive and caring; the children feel happy and
good themselves. Establishing a good rapport with children,
emphasizing on building self esteem and confidence goes a long
way in shaping children for a bright future.
