Section A Initial Introductory Task 11. What is a music magazine?A magazine which focuses entirely on music is dedicated to different forms of music culture and within the magazine. The magazine will consistently include photos shoots of current and relevant artist that will appeal to the specific target audience the magazine was made for, it may also include information on the latest concerts that will become available at a later date and also specific interviews with music artist. Occasionally music magazine will have cover mounts in order to help promote their music magazine. A music magazine provides quality entertainment through the use of images and latest news and interviews to draw the readers attention, the music magazine is considered a Niche market because its product is aimed at a specific market.2. What content would you expect to find in a music magazine?There are different forms of content to expect in a music magazine such as interviews which are generally unstructured interviews because it allows the celebrity/music artist who is being interviewed to elaborate on the questions being asked and sometimes the questions are not an open and shut case so it allows the reporter to be able to document more information and evaluate more on the artists response which allows the readers to feel as though they are gaining more insight knowledge by reading the articles. Another form of content you may find within a music magazine is advertisement which may be set into place in order to promote an upcoming release album or to promote the sale of an album which has already been released. Advertisement can also be used for promoting upcoming gigs that are popular and it guarantees promotion due to the social media backing that it gains. A Further content to be expected would be the latest gossip on who is dating who in the industry and who may be getting their heart broken which depending on the person may benefit their career e.g. Mary J Blige with the passion they put into the music or the downfall of their career e.g. Tulisa Contostavlos whose career was at a high when performing with N-Dubz, however as soon as the band were split up shortly after her career went downhill. Another form of content you can expect to be included not just in music magazines are crosswords and competitions and also reviews on gigs, films and obviously music.3. What images would you expect to find in a music magazine?The images I would expect to find in a music magazine are images of recent and current stars within the music industry that have an influential standing within the music industry that may be current or even old school.4. Identify general characteristics/features that you would expect to find in all music magazines?The key features of a music magazine is to entertain the specific target audience with the range of entertainment which they offer, you would expect to find interviews, quotes, gig reviews and also the latest type of gossip on who is who in the industry.Music magazine front cover:1. Why these features are present on all the magazines? Why are they important?These features are important to present on a magazine because it provides a in depth knowledge on the type of music genre which the magazine is publishing, it keeps the target audience of the magazine to be aware of the latest releases and gigs in order for them to be able to purchase tickets or download new songs from their favourite artist. These procedures are important because it plays a key part in allowing the specific genre community to be up to date and aware of what is going on in order for the music industry to make a profit on gigs and additional advertisements which are shown within the magazines.3. With the magazine covers you have selected, what type of magazine is it, what genre does it come under, what are the types of issues covered within the sub-genres & also provide four specific example that support your claim of why the magazine falls into this particular sub-genreThe types of magazine which I have chosen to Caribbean style magazines due to my heritage which is surrounded by Jamaican music which originated its main rots from Africa and America but was developed and adjusted in Jamaica with the help of influential artist such as Bob Marley. The sub-genres which I have chosen are dancehall/bashment and reggae because they are the types of music I listen to and I believe a lot of other people are able to listen to as well whether young or old.4. Target audience & reason supporting this claim? The target audience which I have chosen is aged between the ages of 15-upwards because, the first time I was able to really understand reggae music and the influences it had on society came from the age of 13 due to family interest in the topic and the constantly playing of music within the learning environment. I chose age 15 because it will be more certain that people have heard of reggae or bashment types of music whether by peers or family members.
