Section 4.7: Graphing Lines using Slope-Intercept Form
Int. Math I
Steps to follow when graphing using the slope and y-int.:
1. Equation must be in slope-intercept formy = mx + b
2. Determine the slope (m=?) and y-int. (b=?)3. Plot the y-int. on the coordinate plane4. Use the slope to plot other points, start at y-int.
- Rise – 1st always go up the number of units of the numerator
- Run – 2nd left (- slope) or right (+ slope)the number of units of the denominator
5. Connect the points with a line
Examples
Directions: Find the slope and y-int. of the equation, then graph the line on a coordinate plane.
