José Rodriguez, President. Born in Santurce, Puerto Rico. Retired from the United States Air Force
(USAF) in 1990 after 23 years of service. Served in Vietnam as crew chief/flight engineer. Received
the Meritorious Service Medal for serving as the USAF fuels accountant for Europe and as the Deputy
Accounting Finance Officer. Married to Sonia I. Rodriguez of Ponce, Puerto Rico for 44 years. They have two
sons who are also veterans and 5 grandchildren. José was also a semi- truck driver instructor for 20 years
after retiring from the USAF. “Alone a task can be difficult, together we can accomplish wonders.”
Michele S. Herdoiza, Vice President. Born in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan (a Detroit
suburb), she worked in the graphic design industry for over twenty years. During this time, Michele and
two partners owned and operated their own graphic design company that mainly serviced the automotive
industry. In 2002, Michele decided to switch careers and returned to school. In 2007, she graduated
Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education. She moved to Palm Coast
the following year and has taught kindergarten and first grades in the Flagler County School system. She is
currently a substitute teacher and is actively seeking a full-time position. Her passions are the HAC of
Palm Coast, learning and her greyhound, Larry.
Emily Cortes-Torrado, Secretary. Born in New York City, she is married to Luis and they have a
daughter. Emily moved to Palm Coast in 2001, and later on became a member of the Club. She attended
City College CUNY, Lehman College CUNY and Teachers College, Columbia University. Emily has a
Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership and Multicultural Education, and she has worked in education
for over twenty-five years. Her roles as an educator have varied from Teacher, Director, Principal, Assistant
Superintendent and CEO/Principal of a Charter School. Her passion is equity and excellence in education
for all students and local representation for the Hispanic Community. Emily is presently working for Flagler
Public Schools.
Sigifredo (Ziggy) Zapata, Treasurer. Born in Medellin, Colombia, he came to the United States at the
age of two. Ziggy had diverse jobs in NY while attending Pace University. He was an office manager for
Blazer Corporation and after 9 years moved to Mexico where he attended La Universidad Autónoma del
Mayab in Merida, Yucatán and received his degree in Business Administration. Ziggy worked at Palm
Coast Data for over 11 years in Client Services and is currently pursuing his dream job. Ziggy is a geek at
heart and an advocate for the humane treatment of animals everywhere.
Ingrid Caballero, Vocal. Born In Glen Cove, N.Y, Ingrid graduated from State University, Farmingdale,
New York in 1990 with a major in Ornamental Horticulture. She has worked as a Horticulturist &
Landscape Designer for over twenty-five years, assisting her clients and creating her own designs and
gardenscapes. Ingrid moved to Palm Coast in 2004 and she received a Beautification Award from the City of
Daytona Beach, FL for her work done at the clubhouse in 2005 for L.P.G.A. Golf Course in Daytona Beach.
She currently owns her own business. Her passion is getting involved and being part of Hispanic American
Club of Palm Coast.
Edgar Irizarry, Vocal. Born in New York City, Edgar moved to Palm Coast in 2013 after residing in
Clermont, Florida for three years. After serving in the Air Force, he devoted his professional career
to the behavioral sciences, education and health care, earning Associate, Bachelor and Graduate degrees
in sociology and adult education. During a thirty-year tenure as an administrator of student support
services with the NYC public school system, Edgar also served as Director of Social Services with
the NYC adult shelters, Director with the PAL, Emergency Medical Technician, Audiology Technician, and
Coordinator of Migrant Farmworker Health Services. His interests are the HAC, music and fishing.
Paul Tartaglia, Vocal. Born in Brooklyn , NY. Lived in Long Island until coming to Florida in 2011.
Married twice and the proud father of 4. I have 2 Granddaughters and have been happily Married 20 years
to my wife Gladys. My father is no longer with us , my Mother continues to live in NY as well as my 3
sisters and I had a brother that passed away. Currently a retired NYC Transit employee. Club House
Director for almost 4 years, I enjoy my volunteer work and all the great people I have met along the way.

It is your responsibility to pay your dues on time and
receive your 2015 MEMBERSHIP CARD.
It is very important that you have your new card, as it will:
• allow you to enter on Fridays for Latin American Nights
without having to pay the guest fee
• get you discounted member price when purchasing event tickets
• get you a discounted price when you rent out the club
for your event such as an anniversary, birthday, etc. There are many more member benefits—
see posting at the clubhouse. If you want your card mailed to you,
send a self-addressed stamp envelope
