ADVANTAGES OF USING VIDEO FOR TEACHING SCIENCE
The use of video for teaching and learning science subjects has key advantages. It;
Reduces the cost of teaching sciences, therefore makes teaching of sciences affordable
Eliminates the risks and dangers common in science practicals e.g. toxic chemicals, fires, burns, corrosion etc, especially where safety precautionary procedures are catered for
Can be created in such a way that it is interactive e.g. giving preparatory instructions before doing a practical
Can be played back and therefore what a learner sees is remembered more than what is heard - hence promotes/encourages memorization and helps overcome literacy barriers
Can be stored in electronic storage devices like DVDs which can be played by DVD players with TV monitors, both of which are cheap and can be run on low power generators/solar/batteries both at school and at home.
Can compress time of coverage of syllabus
