1. Introduction
This document explains how to use National Geographic Learning’s Online Practice.
The Online Practice has been optimized to be used on mobile devices (smartphones and
tablets) as well as on both laptop and desktop computers.
It includes activities for practice and exam preparation.
2. System requirements
The recommended system requirements to use the product are:
Tablets and smartphones:
● iPad generation 2 or higher
● iPhone 6 or higher
● ndroid 7.0, Hardware as per oogle Pixel 1 reference
Browser:
WINDOWS
● Chrome latest version
● FireFox latest version
● dge latest version
MAC
● Safari latest version
Internet Speed: 2 Mbps
RAM: 4 Gb
Space in Hard Drive: 100 Mb free space
Screen Dimensions:
● 768 * 1024 px for landscape use
● 1334 * 750 px for portrait use
To ensure optimal results, configure your display screen to 100% scale within the
Display Settings:

3. Signing into the Online Practice
Access is granted through learn.eltngl.com, where you will need to:
a) Sign in using the credentials provided by your school or institution
b) Self-register

a. Sign in using the credentials provided by your school Once in the Online Practice home page, click on Sign in and type the username and password
provided by your institution.
The password must be a minimum of 8 characters long, include 1 number, 1 uppercase, and 1
lowercase.

b. Self-register Once in the Online Practice home page, click on Register and fill in complete the 4-step form.
In Step 1, you will need:
1. Access code. Find the Access code in the inside front cover of your Student Book or in the
interior pages of the Printed Access Code package. The code is a 10-character
alphanumeric code.
2. Course Key. The Course Key is an 8-character alphanumeric code that should be provided
by your institution or teacher. If you will study on your own without being part of any
institution, please visit ELTNGL.com/coursekey to find your self-study Course Key.
Whether you are registered to a teacher-led course or you plan to self-study, you will need to
have both an access code and a Course Key to register.
If you need to enroll to several courses, register yourself with one course and then, after signing
in, you will be able to join as many courses as you need.

In Step 2, complete the form with your first and last name, as well as your email address.
In Step 3, define the username and password you will use when signing into the platform. The
username must be unique, and the password must have a minimum of 8 characters, include 1
number, 1 uppercase and 1 lowercase.
In Step 4, acknowledge and accept the terms and conditions of the Online Practice and click on
Register.
You will now get a “Registration successful” message and you can proceed to Sign in with your
newly created credentials.

c. Forgotten password If you have forgotten your password there are two ways to reset it:
1. Ask your institution to provide you with a temporary password that will let you log in
and then set the password you would like. With the password your institution provides
you, go to the main page (learn.eltngl.com) and Sign in with your username and new
password.
Once signed in, the following pop-up window will appear where you will be able to set a
new password:
NOTE: Your Current password now is the temporary password the institution provided
you. Passwords must be a minimum of 8 characters, include 1 number, 1 uppercase and
1 lowercase.
Click on Update and your password will be reset.
2. From the main page (learn.eltngl.com), click on Sign in and then on the Forgot
password? link to reset it.

Enter the email address where you would like for the password reset directions to be sent:
Then follow the instructions sent to your email.
*You may choose to select “Remember me” during the sign in process to avoid repeating the
password reset process in the future.

4. Platform overview
Once you sign in, the Online Practice has the following main menu options:
● Courses: to access course activities, grades and resources available such as audio, video and
eBooks.
● Assignments: to see and complete your assignments.
● Messages: to communicate with your teacher.
● Profile: to view your account details.
● Logout: to exit the Online Practice.
When using a smartphone, all main menu options can be made visible when clicking on the hamburger
menu on the top right side of the screen:

When using a computer or laptop, all main menu options are visible on the top toolbar:
5. My account
Click on the My Account icon at the top right of the screen, and then the Profile option to
view your personal and course details:
You will be directed to a screen containing cards with information for the following:
About me, My teachers and My courses.

a) About me This card includes your personal details, such as your username, e-mail, and preferred language.
It also allows you to reset your password.
To edit any personal information except for your username, click on the pencil icon on
the top right of the information card. Additionally, after clicking the pencil icon, you can reset
your password by typing your current password in the Current password box, your new
password in the Password box, and your new password once more in the Repeat password box.
When you are ready to confirm your updated information or new password, hit Save on the
bottom right of the card.

b) My teachers Find information about the teachers leading your courses in this section, including their name
and username.
Send them a message by clicking on the messages icon on the top right side of the screen.

c) My courses This section includes any details of the courses you are enrolled, and it also allows you to join new
courses.
Course details include:
• The master course name: the publisher’s title used to create the course (i.e.: “Sample
course” in the image below).
• Expiration date: date when your access code or subscription will expire, and you will no
longer have access to the course.
• Course name: name of the course given by your teacher/school (i.e.: Secondary course”
in the image below).
• Start date of the course
• End date of the course
• Course Key for the course
To join a new course or add additional courses, click on the icon next to My courses:
• If you want to join a new course, input your Access Code and Course Key into the
appropriate boxes.
• If you are part of a school or institution, ask them for your Course Key. Otherwise, if you
are not part of any institution or school, and you will study on your own, click Need a
course key? to find the right Course Key for your self-study course. Once you have input
the Access Code and Course Key, click Join the course. You will now be enrolled in the
new course.
• To join a new course based on the same level and content from the one you are currently
enrolled, only write down the new Course Key. Once you have input the Course Key, click
on Join the course. You will now be enrolled in a new course.

6. Courses, Units, Lessons, Activities and Grades
Courses is the default view you will see after you Sign in.

A list of all the courses you are enrolled in will be displayed, as well as their main details,
including:
• Course name
• Number of Units available
• Number of lessons available
• Course Type:
o Self-study course: you study the course on your own
o Teacher-led course: there is a teacher leading the course
You can preview courses in 2 views by clicking on the as tiles / as a list toggle:
a) Join or add a new course
You can join new courses from this view.
To enroll to a new course, click on the icon next to Courses.
In the pop-up window that appears, insert the necessary information to enroll. For further
guidance on how to enroll in a course, see Section 5c of this user guide.

b) Units view Click on the course you are interested to view the Units available to you.
You can see the main course details near the top-right of the screen:

You can view either all Units, or only Units with assignments by clicking one of the two options
on the All Content / Assignment toggle:

To go back to the Courses main view, click on:
• The Courses breadcrumb if you are navigating via your desktop/computer:
• The back arrow if you are navigating via your smartphone/tablet.

c) Lessons view After clicking on a Unit from a Course window, you will navigate to the Lessons overview:

To navigate to another Lesson:
• Click on the arrows on the right and left side of the Unit information area if you are on
your desktop/computer.
• Scroll to the left on top of the Unit information area if you are on a smartphone. The
yellow dot indicates what Lesson you are previewing:
To go back to the Units view, click on:
• The Courses breadcrumb if you are on your desktop/computer:
• The Back arrow if you are on your smartphone
From the Lesson view, you will see 3 tabs:
• Contents
• Grades
• Resources
Contents From the Contents tab, you can view all available lessons or only lessons that are part of an
assignment with the All Content / Assignment toggle: .
Next to each lesson, you can view the number of activities it has.

Click on a Lesson to preview the activities available:

Grades From the Grades tab, you can view all activity grades:
For each activity you have:
- Activity name
- Assignment: name of the assignment where it is included (if any)
- Last attempt: date when you last attempted the activity
- Time spent: to complete the activity
- Result: grade you scored (as a percentage). The result can appear in a different color
depending on the percent correct:
- Attempts: number of times you tried the activity

To preview your answers to an activity, click on the activity tile.
You can easily view another Unit’s grades by:
• Clicking on the arrows on the right and left side of the Unit information area if you are
with your desktop/computer.
• Scroll to the left on top of the Unit information area if you are with your smartphone.
The yellow dot indicates what Unit you are previewing.
Resources From the Resources tab, you can view all the resources available for the Unit:
• eBook
• Audio tracks
• Videos

d) Completing Activities
From the Course view, first select the Course you are interested in, then the Unit, and finally the
Lesson, which will navigate you to the Activities view:
In the Activities view, you can see all available activities or only the activities that are part of an
assignment with the All Content / Assignment toggle: .

If an activity has been assigned, the assignment name will appear within the activity tile.
If an activity has been completed, the progress bar on top of the activity tile will become yellow:

To complete an activity, click on it to launch it and follow the instructions.
After you complete the activity, check your answers by clicking the icon.
Submit your answers and see the final score by clicking the icon.

After submitting an activity, you will receive a message with the activity score:
Once the activity is completed, there will be several options:
● : to try the activity again by clicking the counterclockwise arrow
● : to move on to the next activity by clicking the forward arrow
● : to see the correct answers for the activity
● : to close the activity and go back to the Unit view

7. Assignments
From the Assignments view, you can preview all assignments available.
View only the active assignments, or all assignments (including active and inactive) by clicking on
the Only active / All assignments toggle:
For each assignment, the following details are available:
- Assignment name
- Course name
- Due date (if any)
- Time spent completing activities
- Average score
- Progress: percentage of the assignment completed
You can also track the progress from the bar on top of each tile.

To view the score of each activity completed as part of the assignment, click on the assignment.
8. Messages
Easily communicate with your teachers via Messages. Check teacher Messages as well as News
from your school or institution and easily filter by these categories using the All / Teacher /
News toggle:
