A summer univeristy is an academic session held during summer, for professional or personal purposes, to obtain credits, supplement education. It is focusing on cultural exchange and nonformal learning. It is organised by the members of the local groups. Each year, between 70 and 90 Summer Universities in over 100 cities take place as courses of usually two weeks.

Sometimes the diffrenece is made by the main topic of the university sometimes is made because of MONEY. For example if a medicine summer school has the same offer but different prices, for sure evrybody will choose the less expensive.Every year the universities makes primary and secondary research to find out what the students desire.

The prices are various , between 280 USD and 800 EURO and the period is also between 1 week and 1 month. Sometimes the universities request a fee like registration fee. For example for the MTA Renyi Institute, Budapest you should pay 280 USD/61 595 HUF and the school covers full lodging and lunch for all accepted participants. Corvinus University also has an offer for the summer school: ”The structure of this unique and flexible summer school enables you to choose several courses during your intended stay in Budapest. Courses are offered

from Monday until Friday. Classes are offered either only in the morning or in the afternoon. Some courses take place both in the morning and in the afternoon.”The price is 800 EURO and includes : tuition for up to 2 courses each week, access to the university libraries, one official transcript sent by priority mail. The level of English required is proficiency.

Etvos Lorand University has an attractive offer too. One-week short-term programme about the implementation of Health Technology Assessment (HTA) in Central Eastern European countries. This intensive English language course was designed for health care professionals from Central and Eastern European countries with serious resource constraints to understand how health technology assessment (HTA) can be applied locally to improve the approriateness of pricing and reimbursement decisions of new health technologies. The pragmatic course with internationally recognized lecturers offer practice-oriented knowledge for representatives of public health care decision-makers, academic centres and manufacturers of health technologies. ELTE Summer School in Mathematics has a one-week short-term program organized by the Institut. The summer school is aimed at undergraduate and graduate students in Mathematics, Computer Science, Sciences, or in any related program. The mini courses we offer highlight areas of discrete mathematics in which the Institute of Mathematics has a traditionally strong record. The goal of the courses is to introduce students to current directions in research that are accessible at undergraduate and graduate level.ELTE has also a four-week program offering an intensive Hungarian Language Course with many cultural components.
