Introduction Licence 15123M, the Picco’s Pond property, was staked in June 2008 to explore for uranium. The Anchor Drogue granodiorite, which underlies the property, lies near the St. Lawrence granite. The Anchor Drogue fluorite vein (MODS 001M/03/Fl002) is located on the property. This report summarizes the mineral exploration work carried out by the licence holder, Keith Kelloway, during the second year of ownership. Licence Data File Number: 774:9714 U.T.M. Grid: Zone 21, NAD 27 U.T.M. Coordinates: 5 213 000 N, 634 000 E Map Sheet: 1M/3 No. of Claims: 8 Issuance Date: 2008/06/26

Location, Access and Physiographic Setting Licence 15123M (Figure 4.) is located within NTS topographic map area 1M/3, (Figure 3), on the southwest coast of the Burin Peninsula (Figure 2), Newfoundland (Figure 1), near the community of Big Salmonier on Route 220, about 20km SW of Marystown. Route 210, 144 km south from the Trans Canada Highway at Goobies, accesses the town of Marystown. A dozer trail was constructed to get to the fluorite vein in the 1970’s. This trail traverses the property and provides access by foot. ATV’s may only use the trail about halfway. The terrain consists of exposed granodiorite at the western half. The eastern half of the property is covered with coniferous trees and marshes.

Geology The bedrock on which this licence is staked is a pluton called the Anchor Drogue granodiorite. It is a pink to grey, medium grained rock. A more detailed description is contained in Strong et al (1978).

    Previous Work

A portion of this licence area was included in Licence 5570M which Burin Minerals staked to explore the Anchor Drogue fluorite vein. The licence was held for 1 year, 1977, when reconnaissance geological mapping and prospecting were carried out. In the 1950’s and 70’s, companies exploring for fluorspar drilled the Anchor Drogue fluorite vein. During the first year of ownership by the author, lake sediments, soils samples, and radiometric readings were collected. Seven lake sediment samples were collected from ponds on the property. One sample gave a concentration of 29.5 ppm U. Another pond, Long Pond, yielded concentrations of 13.6, 11.7 and 13.1 ppb Au. No anomalous values were returned on 29 soil samples collected. These were collected on a rectangular grid coinciding with the UTM grid at 100 m spacings. Twenty-two readings were made on the same grid using a scintillometer. No anomalous readings were obtained.

    Exploration Activities 2009/2010

Collected samples were analyzed in two batches. Five rocks, 15 soils and 2 stream sediments are contained in geochemical report A09-5705. Sample data is given in Table 1. The 5 rocks were collected at the Anchor Drogue fluorite vein. The soils and stream sediments, PP901 to PP908, were collected around the pond that gave an elevated uranium lake sediment concentration of 29.5 ppm U. The remaining soil samples, PP909 to PP918, were collected from the grid begun last year. The second set consisted of 13 soils, termed PP101 to PP113, and were collected along the soil sample grid. The sample data is contained in Table 2. The geochemical report is A10-2453. All sample locations are shown in Figure 5. The radiometric survey, whereby field readings were taken with a scintillometer along the same grid used for the soil survey, was continued. The new values and those collected last year are listed in Table 3. A dot plot of the total radiometric values to date is contained in Figure 6.

Results and Recommendations Soil sampling and general prospecting did not suggest a source of the gold in the pond that had given elevated gold sediment readings the previous year. Neither did they suggest a source of the uranium in the pond that had given an elevated uranium sediment. Both ponds are on the borders of this property so exploration will be expanded to outside the property.
