J esus took Peter, James, and
John his brother, and led them up
a high mountain by themselves.
And he was transfigured before them; his
face shone like the sun and his clothes
became white as light. And behold,
Moses and Elijah appeared to them,
conversing with him. Then Peter said to
Jesus in reply, "Lord, it is good that we
are here. If you wish, I will make three
tents here, one for you, one for Moses,
and one for Elijah." While he was still
speaking, behold, a bright cloud cast a
shadow over them, then from the cloud
came a voice that said, "This is my
beloved Son, with whom I am well
pleased; listen to him." When the
disciples heard this, they fell prostrate
and were very much afraid. But Jesus
came and touched them, saying, "Rise,
and do not be afraid." And when the
disciples raised their eyes, they saw no
one else but Jesus alone.
As they were coming down from the
mountain, Jesus charged them, "Do not
tell the vision to anyone until the Son of
Man has been raised from the dead." Child Development Center (3 mos-PreK) 1259 St. Albert’s Drive, Reno, NV 89503 Telephone: 775.747.1617 Director: Mrs. Kristin Mareno email: [email protected]

Sacraments
Baptisms Baptisms for infants through 2nd grade are generally held during any of the weekend Masses (except during Advent and Lent.)
Please note: you must complete an online baptism request form located on our website before attending the baptism classes. If you are registered with another parish, you must provide a letter from your parish confirming that you are registered there and are regularly attending Mass.
There are three classes which parents and godparents are required to attend. The first covers the responsibilities parents and godparents promise toward keeping the flame of faith alive in their child/godchild. The second will reaffirm and respond to questions from the first and discuss the ongoing involvement in the child’s continued growth in the faith of the Church through the Sacrament of Confirmation. And the third class will discuss the baptismal rite itself.
Classes will be scheduled and conducted by Deacon Richard Ramm upon receipt of the completed baptism request form.
Weddings
All weddings must be scheduled six months in advance. A marriage preparatory class (four sessions) is required. Contact the parish office to determine availability and to schedule your wedding.

ATTENTION TEENS: JOIN US FOR FELLOWSHIP AND FUN
We are going to start meeting every Wednesday evening from 6:30-8:00 pm

reflection time and go over the upcoming Sunday readings. We can also plan fun social nights,
where we just hang out, play games, watch a movie, etc.
We hope you can join us and meet new people and, of course, grow together with us on this
spiritual journey!
All teens (9th-12th grades) are welcome whether enrolled in confirmation or not!

RCIA group celebrates the Rite of Sending and Rite of Election
On Sunday, March 5th at the 10 am mass, Father Thomas Nelson celebrated the Rite of Sending for the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) catechumens and candidates. The RCIA participants have been meeting faithfully every Wednesday since September 28th. Lent begins their final period of Purification and Enlightenment as we draw closer to celebrating the Sacraments of Baptism, First Communion and Confirmation with them at the Easter Vigil on Saturday, April 15 th.
The Rite of Sending included testimonials from each person’s sponsor on the study and prayer to which our soon to be new Catholics have been committed. It also prepared the participants to be sent to meet Bishop Randolph Calvo for the Rite of Election at St. Rose of Lima that same afternoon. The Rite of Election is always an inspiring event. It’s quite a sight to see all of people from the whole Diocese of Reno who are preparing to join the church (it must have been close to 100 people).
Below are some group photos from the day; if you can’t quite see everyone, you can find their individual pictures in the church entranceway. The RCIA team asks you to please keep them in your prayers – here’s a prayer list for you. Thank you for your continued support and love!

The season of Lent begins on Ash Wednesday. It is a time for
personal reflection, prayer, reconciliation and penance. In the
Lenten spirit there will be no processional or recessional mu-

This year, Saint Albert’s CSA goal remains
unchanged from last year at $109, 415.41. For
many reasons, this year it is especially urgent
that we reach and, God willing, exceed our goal
sooner rather than later.
As of March 1, 2017:
2017 Goal: $109,415.41
Pledged: $51,695.50 (47%)
Still Needed: ($57, 499.91) (53%)
As you can see, we have made significant
progress although current pledges leave us
short of the halfway mark. We urgently need
your help. If you have yet to make your pledge,
please consider doing so before the end of this
month. Thank you and God bless you for your
generosity and support.

“The poor you will always have with you, and whenever you wish you can do
good to them.” [Mk 14:7]
There is a real need for individual packets of
dried milk and single serving size pork and
beans, tuna fish, Vienna sausage, or any other
food item that come in five ounce cans. These
items are pre-cooked and can be eaten directly
from the can if necessary. I am trying to figure
out how to package these items in something
other than a brown paper lunch bag since I like to
put several items in this bag for a complete day
of food and the lunch bags aren’t big or sturdy enough to hold
everything. If you have any ideas please let
me know.
Those in need are so grateful for your gifts
of non-perishable food, clothing, and
toiletries.
Thank you for all you do for those in need
and may God bless you.

Deacon’s Outreach Over / Under Age: It is never too early or late to learn
T his is personal but hopefully it will find it at
least marginally useful. Last September I
voluntarily matriculated at John Paul the Great
Catholic University, with the express purpose
to obtain a MA in Biblical Theology. Now for some,
attending graduate school is nothing too far out there, but
when one is fast approaching seven decades on this great
green earth, there are those who seriously question my
mental faculties.
To that I say, “Fair enough.” I have on occasion been
accused of having a few screws loose, so I am not at all
offended or taken aback by their judgment.

While you are on your Lenten journey, may we remind
you of Jesus's mercy we receive in the confessional.
Remember these words of Jesus, "I desire that the Feast
of Mercy be a refuge and shelter for all souls, and
especially poor sinners. On that day the very depths of
My tender mercy are open. The soul that will go to
Confession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain
complete forgiveness of sins and punishment." (699)

Centering Prayer An Introduction to Contemplative Practice
St. Albert’s Centering Prayer group, led by JoAnn and Chuck Baird, is on the first Monday of each month at 7:00 pm in the chapel.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church (CC), § 2653, says:
The Church ‘forcefully and specially exhorts all the Christian faithful…to learn ‘the surpassing knowledge of Jesus Christ’ (Phil 3:8) by frequent reading of the divine Scriptures…Let them remem-ber, however, that prayer should accompany the reading of Sacred Scripture, so that a dialogue takes place between God and man. For ‘we speak to him when we pray; we listen to him when we read the divine oracles.’
Centering Prayer is a spiritual custom based upon the Word of God, Lectio Divina. We strive to in-crease the time we spend alone with God to 15-20 minutes twice a day. The purpose of our gathering is to encourage one another each month in this sacred, individual practice, in the words of CC, § 2560, in “the encounter of God’s thirst with ours.”
All members of the Centering Prayer group invite you to join them in the joy of this spiritual discipline.
