To Our Guests,We especially welcome you today! More information about our church is available on our website at firstpresaugusta.org.

Spiritual CareIf you would like to speak to someone about what it means to know Jesus Christ or you have any spiritual need or question, please use one of the prayer cards in the pew rack to contact one of our pastors. Our church elders are also available to speak with you. An elder will be standing next to the pastor following the service.

Children’s Check-inWe are committed to the highest level of protection possible for the children placed in our care on Sundays and at all church events. For this reason, we require parents of newborns through fifth grade children to check in their children before they go to the nursery, Sunday School, Catechism, Children’s Church or any other children’s activity. Several kiosks are available in the Welcome Center.

Children’s WorshipWe offer a specially designed program for children in pre-k through fourth grade during the morning services. A leader will escort children from the sanctuary to their classrooms during the hymn of preparation. Parents are welcome to accompany them to observe where to pick them up after the service. Parents of children in pre-k through second grade are asked to pick up their children following Sunday School or the 11 a.m. worship service.

Nursery Nurseries are provided for infants and toddlers during the worship services and Sunday School. We also provide a Mother/Infant Room located beside Nursery 1 which is equipped with live video feed of the worship services. Ushers are available to direct you.

WelcomeWe are very glad to have you worshiping our gracious God with us today.

As stewards of God’s resources, we try not to print an excess of bulletins. We invite you to bring this bulletin with you when you return for the evening service.

Flowers The sanctuary flowers are given today to the glory of God

from the wedding of Megan Clark and Wyatt Mobley.

The Advent Wreath CelebrationEach Sunday during the Advent season we light a candle in our morning services and read the corresponding Scripture to focus our attention on Jesus and glorify him. We use three purple candles representing Hope, Love and Peace, and a pink candle representing the Joy that is ours because of Christ’s coming into the world and into our hearts and lives. The white candle in the center of the wreath is lit on Christmas Eve and represents the birth of Jesus. This tradition, dating back to A.D. 600, reminds us that the center of the Church and the center of our Christmas celebration is Christ Jesus.

The Lord be with you.And with your spirit.Let us worship God!

Hark, the herald angels sing, “Glory to the newborn King;Peace on earth and mercy mild, God and sinners reconciled!”Joyful, all ye nations, rise, join the triumph of the skies; With the angelic host proclaim, “Christ is born in Bethlehem!”Hark, the herald angels sing, “Glory to the newborn King.”

Christ, by highest heaven adored; Christ, the everlasting Lord!Late in time behold Him come, offspring of the Virgin’s womb;Veiled in flesh the Godhead see, hail the incarnate Deity.Pleased as man with men to dwell, Jesus, our Emmanuel.Hark, the herald angels sing, “Glory to the newborn King!”

The Corporate Confession of Sin

I prayed to the Lord my God and confessed: Oh Lord, the great and awesome God,We have sinned and done wrong. We have been wicked and have rebelled; We have turned away from your commands and laws.We have not turned from our sins nor given attention to your truth.Lord, you are righteous, but this day we are covered with shame. Now, our God, hear our prayers. We do not make requests of you because we are righteous, but because of yourgreat mercy. O Lord, listen! O Lord, forgive! from Daniel 9

†The Pastoral Prayer and The Lord’s PrayerOur Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

The Assurance of Pardoning Grace ................................................. Hebrews 4:15-16For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

The Offertory—I Have Seen the Light ................................................Robert Sterling

The Offering* (Please take a moment to sign the attendance register.)

I was a seeker for light in a dark world,I looked for truth, but settled for lies.I had been blinded, I couldn’t see‘Till a star in Bethlehem’s sky opened my eyes.I have seen the light shining in the darkness;Bursting through the shadows, delivering the dawn.I have seen the light, whose holy name is Jesus; His kingdom is forever, he reigns on heaven’s throne!

There in the manger, an innocent baby;Who could believe he was the one?I can believe it, I know it’s true;He changed my life, he is the Light, he is God’s Son!

We must tell the world what we’ve seen today in Bethlehem; He’s the promised king, we bow down worship him.Alleluia, we will worship Christ the King!

Glory to God in the highest! I have seen the light of Jesus!I have seen the light of the Lord!

**†The PeaceThe peace of the Lord be with you always.

And also with you.
