POPE FRANCIS—PRAYER INTENTIONS FOR JANUARY
Universal: Interreligious Dialogue, That sincere dialogue among men and women of different faiths may produce the fruits of peace and justice.
Evangelization: Christian Unity, That by means of dialogue and fraternal charity and with the grace of the Holy
Spirit, Christians may overcome divisions
From the Pastor: “You are my beloved.”
“You are my beloved.” These words of the Lord (to you and to me) are so powerful I think they
often scare us. We say, “I’m not loveable;” or “I know I’m loved, but…” Often times, at our deepest
core, there are areas of our lives that we are still trying to hide from God and from those around us.
Epiphany, Part II was the Baptism of the Lord and this week we get Epiphany, Part III-the
Wedding at Cana. Today the Lord says to you, “You are my beloved, and I want to be your spouse
and you to be mine…forever!”
Like newlyweds who embrace one another forever with all vulnerability and “imperfection,” today
the Lord embraces you forever at the wedding of Cana. The bridegroom has arrived and his
kingdom of love and self-gift with it.
I invite you to let the Lord kiss your self-doubt away. Let the Lord see you and embrace you. Let
the Lord expose the lies you have carried that there is something in you that is un-redeemable,
something that is un-loveable.
The Lord’s love and mercy are synonymous. During this year of mercy, let us open our hearts to
that merciful love. From that encounter of love, let us then show that unconditional merciful love to
those around us.
Peace and God Bless,
Fr. Jaspers
P.S.
I wanted to let you know my retreat last week was with the John Paul II Healing
Center; www.jpiihealingcenter.org . Dr. Bob Schuchts, the founder, published a book last year called:
Be Healed: A Guide to Encountering the Powerful Love of Jesus in Your Life, which can be ordered
through the webpage and found in other places as well. I am very thankful for the retreat and am
about half-way through the book.
At the beginning of each year we have the opportunity to make our pledge to the Archbishop's
Annual Appeal (ACA). Keep your eyes open for a mailing to come soon for those who have
participated in the past. This year, in addition to support and guidance, we financially received a
Safety Grant, Hispanic Ministry Grant, Catholic School Scholarships, and the joy of having
seminarian Josh Keatley for the summer. Thank you again for your generosity! We have now
reached our goal 2-years running!

Where All Are Welcomed and Loved With
Mercy - Day 308
"Being a protector means protecting people,
showing loving concern for each and every person,
especially children, the elderly, those in need, who are
often the last we think about." Pope Francis
First 1000 Days: A Catholic Culture of Life Initiative
In the Gospel today, at the wedding
feast in Cana, Jesus reveals himself to his
disciples, and they began to believe in him.
Every day, God also gives us signs of his
love, and so we also can respond in faith
and trust.
As you place your gift in the Society of St.
Vincent de Paul envelope, know that you are a sign
of God’s love to those who are suffering, and you
give them reason to believe and to trust.

CHURCH CLEAN-UP UPDATE
Thank you to the Eucharistic Ministers for a great
turnout and an outstanding job of cleaning the Church
and the Parish Center. We wiped down the pews,
dewebbed and dusted, cleaned the windows and
doors in the church, vacuumed, swept and mopped,
cleaned the bathrooms, wiped down the chairs and
baseboards and blew the leaves outside.
Our next cleaning will be February 13th from 9am –
11am with the Lectors.
All are welcome to come and participate. Just bring
yourself and we will provide the rest. Many hands
make light work. Together we can do great things for
OUR church. For some, it may seem like their abortion is an event
totally left in the past, yet vast evidence shows that
abortion has long-lasting, life-altering affects in the
lives of women and men who have experienced it. To
feel, deal, and heal from abortion(s), attend a life-
changing Rachel’s Vineyard Retreat. Contact Project
