COMPANY PROFILE 28-11-85 – NCL carved out of CCL & SECL

carved out of WCL. S.E.C.L. has been awarded “Mini Ratna”

Status by Govt. of India in 2007. In the year 2007-08, out of total coal

production of 379.49 million tones produced by Coal India Limited, total coal production by SECL was 93.79 million tones.

SECL kusmunda is having two project kusmunda project and laxman project.

The target of coal production (2012) SECL kusmunda is 16 mts.

OBJECTIVE OF STUDY

To identify the different types of training held in SECL kusmunda.

To know the opinion of employees towards various training programmes.

To determine the satisfaction level of employees towards training programmes.

AREA OF STUDY(EMPLOYEE TRAINING) Training of employee in SECL kusmunda is

done in group vocational training centre(GVTC)

This training centre is imparted training to the employees of Kusmunda project and Laxman Project.

Training is being imparted as per new training modules since January 1995. Training records are well maintained and awarded training certificate after training.

Group VTC Kusmunda area has completed the training target in 2011.

3 KINDS OF TRAINING PROGRAMME IS GIVEN TO EMPLOYEE OF SECL:1. BASIC TRAINING:It’s a training which is given to newly appointed employee.The time period of basic training is 18 days.2. REFRESHER TRAINING:The target of refresher training is to train 20% of the whole employee every year.The time period of basic training is 6/12 days.3.SPECIAL TRAINING: Training program which for some specialized topic. Safety in opencast Risk management plan Women development program, etc

FINDINGS The company has provided safety

instruments for employees for their better performance..

Management has provided all training facilities required to the employees.

It was found that S.E.C.L has good corporate culture and training environment.

It was heard that the company possess least percentage of accident rates compare to similar organization due to safety programmes and awareness programmes.

LIMITATION Managers are not reachable all the time. Employees are busy in their work so it is

sometime hard to convince them to fill the questionnaire.

Employees don’t show interest to fill the questionnaire.

SUGGESTION: Training should be given as per the needs of

the employees. There must be a sound communication

between trainer and trainee. During the training worker should be totally

released from their work. Create a system to evaluate the

development of training
