Daily: ASK!

After-School Kamp (ASK) provides students with a variety of games and activities including: arts and crafts, lego, board games, outdoor games (weather permitting) and homework help and much more!

Mondays: THE LORAX

‘Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to change, it’s not’ The story of greed, over consumption and a young boy who can change it all. This Dr. Seuss story shows us a future without trees and clean air and how the town of Thneedville was created. This show is full of catchy songs, fun characters and a happy ending. Join P.L.A.Y. as we tell this important story.

MASTER CHEF JUNIOR

This program features fun and healthy recipes that are low cost and kid friendly. Participants will learn techniques and strategies used in the kitchen. The recipes will include: spaghetti and meatballs, cookies and cupcakes, chicken wraps, fruit salad and smoothies, jello cake, stir fry, custard and pudding. SPECIAL EFFECTS MAKEUP PROGRAM [Level 1]

Get creative and do something fun and interesting! Explore and learn about Special Effects Makeup and tools used in the prestigious world of film industry. Through demonstration and hands-on instruction, students will have the chance to create realistic quality special effects injuries such as: broken nose, black eye, bruises, burns, deep cuts, severed finger, scratches, and abrasions. Also students will learn how to create an authentic creepy zombie makeup character, and ageing makeup for stage/theatre. **COST OF MATERIALS INCLUDED

SCIENCE ALIVE

Science AL!VE is a student-run science education program based at Simon Fraser University. In partnership with Community Schools, Science AL!VE is proud to present our fun-filled hands-on science after-school programs for students from kindergarten to grade 5 in Seaview Community School! Our after-school programs will introduce students to the amazing world of science, engineering, and technology through hands-on activities and interactive demonstrations led by our energetic, creative and expertly trained staff.

RHYTHMIC GYMNASTICS Rhythmic Gymnastics is an elegant sport both in physique and performance. It involves the use of body movement with apparatus by throwing and catching the apparatus (rope, hoop, ball, ribbon, and clubs). Students will put the skills together in choreographed routines with music.

GAME DESIGN PROVIDED BY UME ACADEMY

JUNIOR GAME DESIGN GRADES 1 – 2

Designed for young learners, this session begins with students working in teams to create board games, design game art, sculpt their own player pieces and devise game rules. Students then use a laptop, mouse to use Unity3D software to create their own video games! Students will learn creative problem solving, design thinking and digital literacy through art, collaboration and video games!

GAME DESIGN GRADES 3 – 5

Create your own video game! In partnership with UME Academy, students make their own video games with Unity3D, the game engine used to make top games like Pokémon Go. We will have fun learning fundamentals of game design, and bringing unique game ideas to life. Students will customize their creations through art, sound and coding. Learning + Play = Fun! Students will showcase their creations to family and friends at a demo day. All hardware, software, and USB sticks are provided.

Wednesdays:

KARATE Karate allows students to explore the world of martial arts in a safe environment while developing strength, flexibility, coordination, and respect for others and themselves. Students will be introduced to basic movements, which include proper stances, blocks, hand-strikes and kicks, including the grading system (coloured belts). Unless you have permission from the sensei to move to the "advanced" program please enroll in the "introductory" program. *If you are uncertain please enquire with Sensei Kimberly.

Thursdays: EVERYBODY DANCE NOW!

BY: CITY OF PORT MOODY Get moving, be creative and have fun! We will be exploring creative dance concepts (speed, level, space, size, direction, pathways) in a semi-structured environment that encourages freedom of expression, inspiring and challenging each other and trying new ways to move, dance and connect.

3D BASKETBALL

3D Basketball is fun program that allows students to learn new skills. The program teaches athletes the necessary fundamentals required to succeed in the sport of basketball. Teaching basic skills and concepts through a series of progressive lesson plans, athletes learn the premise of sound decision-making and strategy. Constant challenge and encouragement will be stressed.

PAPER MACHE ART PROVIDED BY PLACE DES ARTS

Learn to make two- and three-dimensional objects using recycled, repurposed natural materials with papier mache techniques. You'll build molds and armatures to create a variety of projects including bowls, bugs, masks, mixed-media paintings and more!

Fridays: MULTI – SPORT PLAY

Our Community School After School Programs Registration is online and will accept payment using Visa; MasterCard or Interac/Debit from most major banks. You can get instant confirmation of your spots in the programs you choose. You will require an email address in order to get your confirmation # and print out a receipt for your payment. To access the registration website please visit the Seaview Community School Website then click on the “Community Programs” button on the homepage. If you do not wish to register online there is still an option to register by filling out the paper registration forms. They are located on the Seaview Community School website in the Community Programs Page or can be picked up at the Seaview Community Office. Please return complete forms and payments by cash or cheque made payable to Seaview Community School main office.

All registrations are on first come, first serve basis.
