    SEASAC Swimming Championships

    On March 1 the NIST SEASAC swim team consisting of 15 girls and 15 boys travelled to

    United World College in Singapore for the SEASAC Swimming Championships.

    The team members were:

    Girls Lapat Boonsri, Ratchapa (Susie) Chongthaweephol, Elli Curotta, Natasha Dunda, LexiGeorge, Tara George, Isabel Hahn, Jina Huang, Pornpicha Lerthirunvibul, Akira Nishiono,

    Fallon Parfaite, Kanruthai (Orm) Poonsornsiri, Prue Sintavanarong, Vorada (Belle)

    Socatiyanurak, Napasorn (Fah) Sriwannavit.

    Boys -

    Phanit (Jo Jo) Asavanamuang, Arne Esser, Nathan Ferdinandus, Prin Harinsuta, Pavee (Zim)

    Jearrajinda, Norraseth (Min) Laohavisit, Tharit (Tary) Lee, Nopakit Lerthirunvibul, Garn (JR)

    Masathienvong, Grit (Armie) Masathienvong, Napass (Ben Ben) Masathienvong, Arin Naidu,

    Petch Pibuldham, Nathan Stern, Jirapat (Spencer) Vanichstian.

    The level of competition at the meet was extremely high with many swimmers battling it

    out for victory in all events. Overall at the meet 31 new SEASAC records were set with the

    results of the final session being crucial in determining the final overall team standings. The

    overall final placing of the NIST team was 6th

    place with winning school of championships

    being the British International School of Jakarta. The NIST 12 & Under Boys and 13 14

    Years Boys both finished in 3rd

    place in their age group divisions.

    Individually many swimmers swam personal best times for their events and some notable

    performances were as follows:

    Nathan Stern: 1st

    - 50m Freestyle; 2nd

    - 100m Freestyle, 50m Butterfly, 100m Butterfly, 50m

    Backstroke.

    Lexi George: 2nd

    50m Breaststroke; 3rd

    50m Butterfly, 50m Freestyle.

    Suzie Chongthaweephol: 2nd

    50m Breaststroke; 3rd

    100m Breaststroke.

    Prue Sintavanarong: 2nd 200m Breaststroke; 3rd 100m Breaststroke.

    Prin Harinsuta: 3rd

    50m Backstroke

    Boys 12 & under (Norraseth (Min) Laohavisit, Tharit (Tary) Lee, Grit (Armie)

    Masathienvong, Nathan Stern): 3rd

    4 x 100m Medley Relay);

    Boys 12 & under (Norraseth (Min) Laohavisit, Tharit (Tary) Lee, Petch Pibuldham, Nathan

    Stern): 3rd

    4 x 100m Freestyle Relay

    Boys 13 & 14 Years (Prin Harinsuta, Arne Esser, Garn (JR) Masathienvong, Phanit (Jo Jo)

    Asavanamuang): 3rd

    4 x 50m Medley Relay, 4 x 50m Freestyle Relay

    Girls 15 & Over (Tara George, Lexi George, Jina Huang, Elli Curotta): 3rd

    4 x 50m Freestyle

    Well done to all swimmers on their efforts in the pool and it was a pleasure to take the

    group away. All students were excellent ambassadors for both their families and NIST. We

    now look forward to building on these last few days performances with more personal best

    swims at the BISAC Swimming Championships to be held at Shrewsbury International School

    at the end of March.
