Seaflex 55 ultrafiltration (UF) membranesare engineered specifically to provideoptimum pre-treatment for seawaterreverse osmosis (SWRO) systems Thecombination of advanced technology andsustainable design facilitate a state-of-

the-art UF membrane for desalinationpurposes that provides the most cost-effective consistent and high quality SWROfeed water Thereby Seaflex 55 sets newstandards in providing the world with avaluable missing link between oceans ROsystems industries and consumers

Each module with a membrane surface areaof 55 msup2 is installed vertically and connecteddirectly to feed and filtrate headers PentairX-Flowrsquos ultrafiltration membranes knowan inside-out flow configuration withtwo modes of operation dead end flowor recirculation flow Recirculation flow

is applied to increase the turbulence onthe membrane surface Both modes ofoperation are discontinuous with alternatingfiltration (production) and backwash(cleaning) steps In the filtration step feedwater is forced through the fibers and in thebackwash step some of the filtrate is forcedback through the membranes to remove anysolids The inside-out configuration offers ahigh performance (fluxtmp) at a low energyand chemical consumption
