A representative from Change X visited the school at the end of March and did a workshop with the children

from 3rd to 6th about the effect plastic is having on our world. From April 29th onwards, we, as a school

will begin to try reduce waste in our lunchboxes. Our three aims are to:

1. Encourage reusable water bottles

2. Say no to single use plastic and tin-foil in lunch boxes

3. Say no to plastic straws

With these three small changes, your children can save the planet!

Ms Sarah Costello

Sarah came to our school on work experience in September, it wasn’t long before Sarah settled in. She was

a great help with the junior classes, we will really miss her upbeat personality and kindness around the

school. We wish her well in her future studies.

Ms Ellen McCormack has kindly entered our school in a competition to win a hamper of seeds from

Germinal Seeds, which we were lucky enough to win. Many thanks

Ms Emma Gleeson

Ms Emma Gleeson has been teaching in the school for several weeks now, during the period of Mrs Fiona

O'Dwyer's absence. Many thanks to a wonderful and dedicated teacher. We wish her the very best in her

Junk Kouture Visit

A huge congratulations to Roisin Donnelly, past pupil, Aoife Dunphy, Sarah Curran and Bethel O’Toole who have

proceeded to the next stage of the Junk Kouture Competition. They visited the school to show us their beautiful

creation. It’s title is ‘All Scrubbed Up’ is an impressive piece of art, made using obsolete medical

equipment such as biopsy valves, forceps, scissors, an old fob watch, tubes, cleaning brushes and old

scrubs! The 'surgical' tray is made from scrap mdf which was sprayed with silver paint. You can vote

online for this fantastic project and we wish the girls the very best of luck!

Thank you to all who have left in re-cyclable clothes. Please continue to drop in clothes to the hall as

it’s much appreciated.
