Summer is drawing to a close and, while we are all ready for some relieffrom the heat, it won’t be long beforewe are complaining about the colderweather of winter and longing forsummer to return. While long warmdays are still with us, we might want totake advantage of it by riding out toHunting Island for long walks on thebeach, laying in the sun and playing inthe surf. Boat rides and balmy days onthe sandbars will still be with us for awhile as well. ‘
Take a walk on Beaufort’s waterfront parkafter dinner at Plums, Saltus , or Panini’s.
And don’t forget the Chocolate Tree’sannual end of summer all-you-can eatChocolate buffet. Not something youwant to miss! Don’t worry aboutsummer ending though. There’s still thecooler weather of the fall to lookforward to and all that the Lowcountryoffers then as well!

La fanciuLLa DeL weStPuccini’s musical vision of the American West is vividly brought to life in the Met’s atmospheric production. Deborah Voigt is Minnie, the “girl of the golden west” and owner of a bar in a Californian mining camp. Marcello Giordani sings Dick Johnson, the bandit-turned-lover hunted by the cynical sheriff Jack Rance (Lucio Gallo), who wants Minnie for himself. Complete with whiskey-drinking cowboys, gunplay, a poker game, and a snowstorm, La Fanciulla del West is Puccini at his most colorful. Wednesday August 13 1:00pm
ObviOuS chiLDFor aspiring comedian Donna Stern, everyday life as a female twenty-something provides ample material for
her incredibly relatable brand of humor. On stage, Donna is unapologetically herself, joking about topics as intimate as her sex life and as crude as her day-old underwear. But when Donna gets dumped, loses her job, and finds herself pregnant just in time for Valentine’s Day, she has to navigate the murky waters of independent adulthood for the
first time. As she grapples with an uncertain financial future, an unwanted pregnancy, and a surprising new suitor, Donna begins to discover that the most terrifying thing about adulthood isn’t facing it all on her own. It’s allowing herself to accept the support and love of others. Monday August 18 7:00pm
