Sample P1 Level Calendar – per Semester
How will I know what homework my child has
been given every day?
Teachers would get the students to write down their
homework in their handbook according to the date.
Parents can check in with their child on the homework and
support them in completing their homework.
Please provide a homework file.
You may wish to label a plastic sleeve for every subject, e.g.
one plastic sleeve for letters, one plastic sleeve for English,
one plastic sleeve for Mathematics.
Student Handbook 2019
How can I support my child’s growth and personal
development?
• Talk to your child when she goes home and ask about her day.
Don’t just ask about what she had learnt that day.
Ask about what did she do with her friends, anything interesting that had
happened in class.
Suggested questions:
1. Tell me something that made you laugh today
2. Tell me one thing you learned today
3. Who did you like to play with during recess?
4. What did you eat during recess today?
5. Where did you play during recess?
6. What was the best thing that happened today?
7. Was there a time when you are unhappy?
How can I support my child’s growth and personal
development?
• If your child experiences sadness, frustrations or anxiety, be patient and
find out more about what had happened.
E.g. friendship issues, unable to complete homework, bully
[Stay calm and discuss what the child can do to resolve this issue.
Parents can also let the teacher know of the situation and work closely with
the teacher in monitoring your child.]
• Guide your child to manage her daily routines, e.g. pack her own bag, wear
her own uniform, wear her own shoes, maintain hygiene,
manage her allowance (role play)
• Listen to your child and be patient.
Your child needs assurance and support.
• Build resilience in your child.
Don’t let her give up so easily.
• Let your child make some decisions on her own by offering
options for her, e.g. would you want to have rice or noodles for
lunch?
• Every child develops at her own pace.
• Do spend time bonding with your child.

• Communicate your concerns to the teacher directly and constructively
• Give the teacher or classmate the Benefit of the doubt
We don’t have perfect teachers but we have teachers who care for the pupils and have the pupils’ interests at heart.
Partnership Principle:Mutual Respect
• Let us be good role models for our children:
– Let us speak to all staff, whether they are the security guards, cleaners, office staff, relief / adjunct / permanent teachers, with respect and courtesy.
– if we are upset about something, we should be mindful of our language and express our concerns tactfully via the appropriate channels
