OVERVIEWThese release notes contain the most current information about the Applied Biosystems®SDS Software v1.4.1 and Relative Quantitation (RQ) Study Software v1.4.1 (“SDS
Software version 1.4.1”) for the Applied Biosystems 7300 Real-Time PCR System, theApplied Biosystems 7500 Real-Time PCR System, and the Applied Biosystems 7500
Fast Real-Time PCR System.
Customer (“you”) must review these notes prior to installing or operating the SDS
Software version 1.4.1.
FEATURES New SDS Software version 1.4.1 is intended to upgrade compatibility to Windows 7operating system. It contains all features from the previous version 1.4. No new features
have been added to the software. A log file with name beginning with “SDS141” will becreated inside destination installation directory once the SDS Software version 1.4.1 has
been installed.The installation directory for 7300 is <drive:>\Applied Biosystems\7300 System

LICENSE
Customer’s installation or use the SDS Software version 1.4.1 is subject to the SDSSoftware version 1.4.1 software license agreement.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTSThe computer hardware and operating system requirements for the SDS v1.4.1 Software
are:
• Windows® XP with Service Pack 3 or Windows® Vista and Windows® 7
• Pentium 4 or compatible, with minimum 1 GB of RAM and 10 GB of hard drivecapacity
• Minimum monitor resolution of 1280x1024
COMPATIBILITY• The SDS 1.4.1 installation supports both upgrade from previous SDS v1.3.x and
v1.4.x Software and full install SDS v1.4.1 on clean machine.
SPECIAL NOTES:
CALIBRATIONS• If you are upgrading an existing installation of an earlier version of SDS software,
the system must be recalibrated by performing:
o ROI calibration,o Background calibration extraction,
o Uniformity calibration extraction (7500 and 7500 Fast only),o All applicable Pure Dye Spectra calibration extractions.
Note: Previously extracted calibrations cannot be applied to new runs.
• If you are upgrading from a previous SDS software version, refer to previous SDS 1.4software release notes <<upgrading from a previous SDS version>> section.
User Groups• If you are using a 21 CFR Part 11 Module version of this software, it is critical that thenames of the operating system User Groups are exactly as identified on page 14 of the
User Guide for 21 CFR Part 11. The User Groups must be created with the names:!
SDS Administrators
!
SDS Scientists
! SDS Technicians! SDS Service
! SDS ESignatureThe software will recognize User Groups only if the names match exactly. There is a
space after “SDS” in all cases. The electronic signature group has no dash and is singular(no ‘s’ at the end).

LOG• A log file will be created during the installation process. The content of this log file is
used to identify whether the Windows7 support version is installed or not.
CCD Driver • A new CCD Driver package provide by vendor and integrate it with SDS 1.4.1
Installation
Installing the Software
IMPORTANT: To prevent data loss, it is strongly advised that all user data is
backed up before upgrading the software.
1. Close any open applications, and then double-click the SDS version 1.4.1.exe file.
The file name of each product is different. Please refer to “Installer name” from below matrix table.

2. Follow the Install Wizard onscreen installation instructions.
Software Version Number in Splash & About Screen • Splash screen
The actual software version installed is v1.4.1 but the software version numberdisplays in the splash screen bitmap artwork remains at v1.4. Note that the second
decimal number of the software version is not displayed in splash screen bitmapartwork for this version of the software.
• About screen
The software version number in the About screen includes the additional buildinformation of ‘0.27’ that is not present in the version number on the splash screen
bitmap artwork. The build information is only used internally, and not referred to inany user documents, which all uses the version number 1.4. This is the only screen
where the build information is displayed.
Uninstalling the Software IMPORTANT: To help prevent data loss, it is strongly recommended that you
backup all user data before uninstalling the SDS 1.3.x/v1.4 software.
1. From Windows <Start> Button, find the <Control Panel> and click on it.

2. Double click the <Add/Remove Programs> under the Windows XP OS or <Programs and Features > under the Windows® Vista and Windows® 7 and find
<SDS 1.4.1 Software>3. Select the <SDS 1.4.1 software> and click on <remove> or <modify/remove>
button to launch the un-install wizard UI.

Follow the un-install wizard onscreen uninstall the software.
