“ To learn what others have to teach us about personalisation.”
“ Can’t wait to see the clouds clearing and the mist to clear when we reach the top!”
Susan Eriksson Director of The Centre for Welfare Reform.
“ I am coming so I can be with people who love, care, believe in humanity and human beings, and who can find laughter and positivity in our work that feeds our souls.”
Cheryl, PA, attending with Nadia Clarke
Stephen Fitzpatrick Head of Strategic Adult Services, Glasgow City Council
“ I want to promote personal choice in important matters in daily life. You should not be forced by others.”
“ I am coming to Scotland, because I am concerned about a prevailing model of paternalistic care and support that is all too common in health and social care. In his book entitled “No More Throw Away People”, Edgar Cahn warns us that ‘the world of helping others in need is now built around one-way transactions…. and with the best of intentions, one-way transactions often send two messages unintentionally. They say: “We have something you need – but you have nothing we need or want or value.” And they also say: “The way to get more help is by coming back with more problems.”’(Cahn, 2004). I want to discuss and explore with other delegates, to see if others agree and if so, how we turn things around.”
Nick Andrews
Katie Clarke Co-founder and Chair of the award winning charity 1Voice – Communicating Together.
