CONFERENCE OBJECTIVE
The objective of the one day conference is to bring together industry, policy makers and
researchers from academia and practitioners to look into relevance and contemporary
developments in consumer behaviour with respect to different industry sectors which can
provide valuable insights to enhance organisational performance.
Globalisation and Technology are the two main driving forces which made the marketing environment dynamic in
contemporary times. Marketing in current times is going through turbulent times. It has forced companies to change,
evolve and adapt for success. Companies are forced to relook into their new product development strategy and
marketing budgets to be more competitive in market. We witnessed the evolution of new marketing models, medium
and tactics to reach and target consumers. Consumers are more empowered and informed about the product and their
competitors. This changing environment has added complexity and uncertainty which has forced companies to look at
resiliency at all levels. Marketers need to look at resilient strategy to survive and to be successful in this dynamic
marketing environment.
GENESIS OF THE CONFERENCE
The conference will deliberate upon the following themes: both conceptual and empirical papers are invited pertaining
to recent and emerging developments in the following areas.
Understanding consumer behaviour in current marketing environment is essential for the success of companies.
Companies need to explore and understand the consumer behaviour with respect to products and services which can
provide them valuable insights for product development and marketing communications.
Social media and digital marketing is playing a profound role by influencing the consumer behaviour in current
marketing environment. With the emergence of e-commerce, social media and digital marketing, it became essential to
understand the behaviour of consumers in digital space also. The digital market place is evolving fast and the success of
any company depends on understanding the consumer and designing effective means to reach them in internet and
other media.
Culture, subcultural factors, society, reference groups and mass media can influence the behaviour of consumers. So it's
vital to understand how these factors can influence the consumer behaviour when they look at product or services. We
can also look at how these factors are important when we look at product and services development, online sales and
promotions of products and services.

About the Institute
Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD), ranked among the top Business
Schools in India, is located at the foot of Chamundi Hills in the heritage city of Mysore, Karnataka, India. The campus has won

track record of academic rigor. SDMIMD also has Student Exchange Programs with the MAYS School of Business, Texas
A&M University, USA; Global Management Institute of Shanghai University, China; and British University in Dubai, Dubai.
These student exchange programmes enable students to understand each other's cultures, business practices and
traditions. This gives students an edge when it comes to international opportunities.
The SDMIMD's research unit - SDM Research Centre for Management Studies' (SDM RCSM), publications 'Cases in
Management', 'Contemporary Research in Management', 'Excerpts of Select Summer Internship Reports', have come in for
praise from the world of academics. The institute's journal 'SDMIMD Journal of Management' indexed in EBSCO and
iScholar has evolved as a prestigious publication well known for the quality of the papers, therein.
In the light of the above areas the conference will focus on the following broad themes in the current business
environment.
Consumer Behaviour, its significance and applications in product and service marketing.
Role of e-commerce social media and digital marketing and its influence on consumer behaviour.
Influence of cultural, reference groups, society and mass media on consumer behaviour.
Research approaches in understanding consumer behaviour.
Any inter disciplinary topic allied to these areas will also be considered for the conference.

Guidelines of Submitting Abstract and papers
Abstracts and full paper will be blind reviewed and those
approved will be selected and published. Full-Papers of
authors that are accepted having duly completed the
registration process will be published in Electronic medium
in the form of 'Compendium of Papers' bearing an ISBN.
The conference organizing committee has tied up with a
leading publishing house that will be bringing out an Edited
Volume comprising of selected papers.

Registration and Payment details
Authors are required to complete the registration process well within the due date, viz., September 30, 2015. Completed
registration form may be sent either through post or as a scanned copy to the conference email id. Only one author is
permitted for registration. In the event of multiple authors, separate registrations are required.

The fee is inclusive of Workshop Kit, Conference kit, Lunch & Snacks, Conference CD, and Certification.
Please note: An additional amount of INR 250 will be applicable for registrations beyond the deadline of September 30,
