Peter Thomson has served as the UNSecretary-General’s Special Envoy for theOcean since September 2017. In this role heleads UN advocacy and efforts for theimplementation of SDG14, including the many positive outcomes of the 2017 UN OceanConference.

Anthony Cox is the Deputy Director of theEnvironment Directorate of the Organisationfor Economic Co-operation andDevelopment (OECD). Since joining the OECDin 2000, he has led multi-disciplinaryteams tackling a wide range of environmentalissues including climate, water, fisheries,biodiversity, political economy of reform,green finance and the Ocean. He hascoordinated major multi-agency projects onclimate, finance and growth, and guides theOECD’s work on the sustainable Oceaneconomy. He also leads the OECD’sengagement on environment, climate andenergy issues in the G7 and G20.

Tiago Pitta e Cunha has been working onOcean policies for two decades as an advocateof the strategic importance of the Ocean,both for Portugal and for Europe. In 2016, hewas awarded the European Citizen’s Prize bythe European Parliament for his actionsdedicated to promoting Ocean governance inthe United Nations, the European Union andin Portugal. He is currently Chief ExecutiveOfficer for the Oceano Azul Foundation inLisbon.

While serving at the United NationsCentral Emergency Response Fund (UN CERF)as the Chief of Resource Mobilisation andCommunications, CERF achieved the highestincome in its 12-year history.

Since 2016, Ingrid van Wees is Vice-Presidentfor Finance and Risk Management of theAsian Development Bank (ADB).
