Our audience age group was intended to be roughly 17-30, so we questioned people fitting into this group to know what they wanted in our magazine. Our graph tells us that

Most of our audience purchases magazines once a month, which means we should publish our magazine on a monthly basis

How often do you purchase magazines?

• Most of our audience doesn’t seem to read regional magazines. We should therefore focus on appealing to a wider audience to encourage people to read our (and others’) regional magazines, possibly by not conforming too strictly to regional magazine stereotypes (as the current array of regional magazines is probably unattractive to our target audience). We’ll choose topics relevant to our age group like music and current media, our writing at an age 15-25 vocabulary level

What do you get out of reading regional magazines?

Our audience reads regional magazines primarily for their entertainment value, so we should focus upon making our magazine fun and exciting, possibly with segments like comedy reviews and writing with a light sense of humour.

• Our audience doesn’t feel that any of our suggested topics should be dropped as each have a good amount of votes, but we should focus on food and local events, followed by film and music. People probably think this because a wide range of articles keeps the magazine from being too niche. We will try to keep our articles focused on London, for instance reviewing popular TV shows filmed in London or writing about films created by London filmmakers. London is a diverse city so I doubt we will need to write about international events often.

What topics do you expect to see in a regional magazine?

Page 4: sdfg1234

• Our audience feels that landmarks relating to the region are the most conventional for a regional magazine, so we will continue the trend and use famous London locations relating to our feature articles, such as using Big Ben or Piccadilly Circus on our covers. These will connect with our audience because regardless of age they feel familiar to London citizens, and the house style of our magazine being bright will offset the possible unappealing feel of a landscape.

What do you expect to see on the front cover of a regional magazine?

• However, contrary to the previous question’s answers, our audience would prefer to see celebrities on the cover, possibly because they are used to gossip/fashion magazines which all feature celebrities and are vastly more popular than regional magazines. This is, however, contrary to convention, and difficult to do, so we will still continue to go with the previous concept of London landmarks, but we will try to keep them from looking drab and perhaps place a larger focus on the interesting articles over the landscapes on our front covers.

• Language is one of the most important parts of a magazine and our articles will be well-written in appropriate language (considering our age group, which is quite young, it will be in an approachable style with a reasonably wide vocabulary)

Do you feel that content and language is the most important factor in a regional magazine?

• This result means we should definitely, carefully focus on the overall design of our magazine, and put a lot of care into the colour scheme and object positions.

Do you feel that colours, style and positioning are important in regional magazines?

• Our audience feels that £2.50-£3.00 is the most acceptable price for a magazine, and we will price our product accordingly. This is probably because our target audience is student/just out of student age and probably quite poor and if we raised the price any higher they wouldn’t be able to afford it.
