Administrator’s Message How can it be June already? Time flies when you’re having fun! It seems like only yesterday that we were getting the students settled into their classes back in September. This month will fly by as well, as there are so many activities planned. You can read about many of the upcoming events in the following pages.
On another note, we want to sent out a special thank you to our many volunteers who have helped make our school year extra special including:
Our PAC, its amazing executive (Karla, Sara, Lindsay, and Lisa) and the many parent volunteers
Our Hot Lunch Team (Jen and her wonderful team of helpers)
Our Wednesday Pizza Team (Andrea and her crew of helpers)
Our One to One Readers (Zolynne and all her dedicated reading volunteers)
And the many, many volunteers who help out on fieldtrips, in classrooms and wherever a need arises.
THANK YOU

Kindergarten Registration
Information Changes
School District No. 67 (Okanagan Skaha)
KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION Children born in 2014 are eligible to enter kindergarten in September 2019. Parents, who feel their child is not yet ready for kindergarten, may defer enrollment for one year. Please contact Wendy Hyer (770-7700) at the School Board Office for information on this. Placement in your neighborhood school kindergarten is based on your address and registration date. The earlier you register, the more likely your child will attend a school close to your home. Register at your neighborhood school during regular school hours. A birth certificate will be required as well as your child’s BC Care Card, parental BC Care Card and proof of address (i.e. driver’s license, utility bill, lease agreement).
Wiltse already has 40 Kindergarten Registrations! Sign up for September 2019!
Please make sure you let the school know if you change your home phone number, work number, cell phone, emergency contact, or address during the school year so we have the correct information on your child. Also this is the time of year when we begin working on enrollment for next year. If you are moving or planning to move during the summer please let the office know as soon as possible. Thank you!
Jump Rope for Heart
THANK YOU to all those
families that supported and/
or sponsored students for
Jump Rope for Heart this
year. We sent a cheque to
the Foundation for just over
$7000.00!! The weather was
a bit cooler this year but the
students had a great time and we did a
wonderful job helping out the BC Heart &
Stroke Foundation. Prizes for those who
earned them will be here mid-June. We would
also like to thank Mrs. Heinrich for all her hard
work in organizing this very worthwhile event.

Bike to School Week
Bike to School Week is a free and fun week-long celebration of biking to school taking place May 27 - May 31st 2019. Bike to School Week is a chance for Schools throughout British Columbia to encourage and celebrate students and their families cycling to
school.
.
Wiltse Fun Day!
Friday, June 21st will be Wiltse’s Fun Day! Children will
move from station to station in this free flow event.
Students in Kindergarten and Grade 1 will be escorted
around for the first hour by their big buddy class. There
will be a number of events set up around the fields and a
few inside so the children can take a break from the heat
(we
hope). Some of the possible events may include:
bubbles, face painting, obstacle course, scooter races,
giant soccer, bead bazaar, beachball volleyball, spoon
race, rock painting, Frisbee throw, sidewalk art, and
much more!

Summer School
It’s that time of year again for our Annual Wiltse Loco Landing Fun Night! This is a PAC sponsored event for students of Wiltse and their parents. Unfortunately, siblings or friends who do not attend Wiltse Elementary will not be permitted entry in this event as it caps out at 275 kids. Tickets are on a first come first serve basis and order forms will be going home soon.
This is a 3 hour fun event at Loco Landing on
Tuesday, June 11th (weather permitting)
from 5 pm to 8 pm. The cost to parents is $5
per registered student.
Wiltse PAC News Wiltse Spring Concert
Wiltse students have been working hard
preparing for our Spring Concert. This
year’s show is called “Giraffes Can’t
Dance” and it is going to be fantastic! It
will be held on Friday, May 31st at 1:00 pm
in our school Gym.
Thanks to Mrs. Levant and Ms. Harkness for
all their hard work preparing our students.
WELCOME TO SUMMER SCHOOL 2019!
As you make plans for your summer, please remember that Summer School is a fantastic opportunity for students to strengthen the learning that has occurred over the past 10 months. Courses that are offered during Summer School focus on reinforcing concepts and skills through games and fun hands-on activities. Students who have participated in Summer School in the past have enjoyed the time they have spent and felt good about what they have learned.
Summer School courses will be funded by the Ministry of Education and School District No. 67. Elementary school programs will run July 2 to July 12 from 8.30am until 1.00pm (last day will end at 12.30pm) at Carmi Elementary School.
Please note: Registration will now require a teacher referral as well as teacher/ principal signature confirmation.
Course information and registration forms will be available in elementary schools and on the district website at www.sd67.bc.ca. Please register at your child’s school before the registration deadline of June 14.
Hope to see you this summer!
Ms. Jacquie Hicks

School Cash On-Line
As we wind down for this school year we would like to remind parents to register online for paying school fees in September. We are trying to get a 100% adoption rate and so far have only 23% of our Wiiltse families registered. It is very simple - a task that takes less than two minutes—by visiting district.schoolcashonline.com . You will need your child’s student number, last name and date of birth to register.
