We have 57,000 registered non-profit organizations in South Africa. Every
one of these has a great idea or initiative and the heart to make a positive
difference in our country.
Does this not tell us something about the people of South Africa?
South Africans have good hearts and great warmth of spirit. “Umnutu
ngumuntu nga bantu” translates as a person is a person through other
people – the essence of ubuntu thrives in South Africa.
We are in the final stages of layout and design with our next book which will
be available in the first quarter of next year.
The Susan Deacon Property Group instills pride in each of us for being
South African, and achieves it with a smile.
We would like to thank our clients for the overwhelming support you have
given us. We live in an awesome country!
Our heartfelt thanks and appreciation! National BRAAI DAY this coming
Friday so lets celebrate in true South African style.

of its kind, in South Africa. (Stave construction, vertical log,
short log horzontal , French Canadian piece-en piece)
The property is on 3 hectares and is about 20km's from
Knysna in a quiet cul-de-sac, surrounded by agricultural
land, smallholdings, with sheep, cows, horses, etc. The

NATIONAL BRAAI DAY - Let's celebrate
As South Africans, a lekker braai is an important part of our heritage. We want to help you
celebrate this occasion by providing you with first-class wines at unbelievable prices, as
well as giving you the ingredients to one of the best BBQ's ever.
Brows the wine selection from Wine Web South Africa
We congratulate Jan Scannel on breaking the world record for the longest braai (and for
bringing the record back to South Africa “where it belongs”).
We’ve included below a snippet which appears on the braai page of the book,
Awesome South Africa.
Braai-ing is the only type of cooking a "real" man will do. When a man volunteers to do
such cooking, the following chain of events unfold:
1. The woman goes to the store. 2. The woman fixes the salad, vegetables and
dessert. 3. The woman places the meat for cooking on a tray 4. The woman puts out
the necessary cooking utensils, 5. The woman takes the meat to the man, lounging
beside the grill, drinking a beer. 6. The man places the meat on the grill. 7. The
woman sets the table and checks the vegetables. 8. The man takes the meat off the
grill and hands it to the woman. 9. After eating, the woman clears the table and does
the dishes. 10. The man asks the woman how she enjoyed "her night off". And, upon
seeing her annoyed reaction, concludes that there's just no pleasing some women.
HAPPY BRAAI-ING!! and you can read more about were it all started at Braai 4

INTERNET REVOLUTION FOR AFRICA
Businesses across Africa are expecting a revolution in
internet access, technology and costs as a result of the
rush of new undersea cables connecting the continent.
More than 90% of business decision-makers across
Africa are expecting prices to drop and competition to
increase dramatically, according to the Telecoms Trends
in Africa 2010 report, released today by World Wide Worx
and Database 360.
The survey, conducted among 1 182 internet-using
small, medium and large businesses across 20 African
countries, also revealed that most African countries
remain heavily reliant on slow or expensive forms of
connectivity, such as dial-up and satellite. However, they
are beginning the move to broadband.

EIGHT BELLS ENDURO
t has been awhile since I was able to take part in one of
the local mountain bike marathon races, and I have to
say, the hospitality my family and I experience at these
events is overwhelming. Eight Bells is a small mountain
resort guest house situated near the top of the
Robinsons Pass, about 30minutes drive from Mossel
Bay. The organizers had put us up in the lodge for the
night, and with the venue of the race being hosted at
Eight Bells, it was ideal for us.

CAPE PIONEER TREK GETS THUMPS UP
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a
true pioneer, riding on your mountain bike where no two
wheels have ever gone before?
If your answer is ‘yes’, the DCM Cape Pioneer Trek (18-
23 October) is a must-do ride. The name says it all.
Henco Rademeyer (Dryland Event Manager) promises
that at least 30% of this year’s route is ‘virgin terrority’.
Apparently nobody has ever cycled on the single-track
sections, some of which date back to the days of the
Voortrekkers and British Settlers.

Confidence in the real estate market in the Cape region
in South Africa is growing and has been helped by the
recent football World Cup which focussed interest on the
area, it is claimed.
Although the region has not been exempt from the global
real estate downturn some part were less affected.
According to Marcel Deacondirector of The Susan
Deacon Property Group, prices stabilised rather than
dropped.
There was definitely a hiatus in the last year in the
exponential growth in property prices we were
experiencing. But it was the least affected area,
stabilising rather than dropping in price. The property
interest has been kick started again by South Africa’s
recent showcase in the World Cup 2010, he said.

Addressing the media in Pretoria on Thursday, Mthethwa
said that murders had decreased by 8.6 percent
between 1 April 2009 and 31 March 2010 – the third-

TOURISM TO CASH IN ON 2010 BOOM
The recent 2010 Fifa World Cup has eradicated many
myths about South Africa and boosted growth prospects
for the country’s tourism industry, the government said
on 7 September 2010.
The tournament created a bright image of the country,
Minister of Tourism Marthinus van Schalkwyk said in a
statement. “The positive brand value that has been
unlocked is immeasurable. The event helped us to turn
the corner in terms of foreign perceptions about tourism
safety.”
The Department of Tourism met with industry role-
players in Kempton Park, near Johannesburg, on 6
September to review the tournament’s impact on the
sector.

WHOLE FILLET OVER THE COALS
In testing this recipe we used quite a few fillets, but the final result made up
for the trial and error beforehand.
BEST BRAAI TIPS:
l Pre-seasoning and oiling the fillet an hour before cooking and leaving
the meat out at room temperature gave superb results.
l Extra smoky flavour introduced via soaked wood chips was a definite
plus. Our tasters all enjoyed this variation.
l Serve the sliced steak with a selection of sauces to please everybody.
1.5kg-2kg beef fillet, double over the thin tail end and tie with string
4 T (60 ml) olive oil
3 t (15 ml) Ina Paarman's Garlic Pepper Seasoning

HAPPY BRAAI-ING!! and you can read more about were it all started at Braai 4

rush of new undersea cables connecting the continent.
More than 90% of business decision-makers across
Africa are expecting prices to drop and competition to
increase dramatically, according to the Telecoms Trends
in Africa 2010 report, released today by World Wide Worx

The survey, conducted among 1 182 internet-using
small, medium and large businesses across 20 African

connectivity, such as dial-up and satellite. However, they
are beginning the move to broadband.

Confidence in the real estate market in the Cape region
in South Africa is growing and has been helped by the
recent football World Cup which focussed interest on the
area, it is claimed.
Although the region has not been exempt from the global
real estate downturn some part were less affected.
According to Marcel Deacondirector of The Susan
Deacon Property Group, prices stabilised rather than
dropped.
There was definitely a hiatus in the last year in the
exponential growth in property prices we were
experiencing. But it was the least affected area,
stabilising rather than dropping in price. The property
interest has been kick started again by South Africa’s
recent showcase in the World Cup 2010, he said.
