Zed and cee profiles section properties calculated in accordance with bS en 1993-1-3 : 2006.

eaves beam, purlin and side rail load span tables based on calculated section properties together with full scale testing of purlin and rail systems undertaken at birmingham University under the direction of dr. Jian Yang.

Working loads are derived using a load factor on Ultimate strength of 1.5 for all conditions. deflection limit of span/200 for eaves beams, span/180 for purlins and span/150 for side rails.

Working loads for cee section floor beams are noted with options on deflection criteria and span lengths.

resulting values should be used as a guide, load combinations should be considered as outlined in bS en 1990 : 2002.

Albion engineer software version 4 is freely available on disc or to download and adopts appropriate load factors for combinations of different loading types.

sleeved purlin load tables for buildings with two bays or more are valid when fixed exactly as described in our technical manual. Working loads have been calculated in accordance with bs en 1993-1-3 : 2006 using a load factor of 1.5, a deflection limitation of l/180 and with the self weight of the section deducted. material grade s450, minimum yield strength 450n/mm2. For structural engineers wishing to check individual cases, ultimate loads are shown together with loads at different deflection criteria. in these cases the self weight of the purlin has not been deducted. tables are valid for roof pitches up to 25 degree slope.

Working loads have been calculated in accordance with bs en 1993-1-3 : 2006 using a load factor of 1.5, a deflection limitation of span/180 and with the self weight of the section deducted. material grade s450, minimum yield strength 450n/mm2. For structural engineers wishing to check individual cases, ultimate loads are shown together with loads at different deflection criteria. in these cases the self weight of the purlin has not been deducted. tables are valid for roof pitches up to 25 degree slope.

the heavy end bay system of purlins offers an economic solution to the larger and multi span type buildings with five bays or more and are valid when fixed exactly as described in our technical manual. Working loads have been calculated in accordance with bs en 1993-1-3 : 2006 using a load factor of 1.5, a deflection limitation of span/180 and with the self weight of the section deducted. material grade s450, minimum yield strength 450n/mm2. For structural engineers wishing to check individual cases, ultimate loads are shown together with loads at different deflection criteria. in these cases the self weight of the purlin has not been deducted. tables are valid for roof pitches up to 25 degree slope.

single span purlin load tables may be used where purlins are required to span in the depth of the rafters, or where continuity of the system cannot be achieved. the tables are valid when the purlins are fixed exactly as described in our technical manual. Working loads have been calculated in accordance with bs en 1993-1-3 : 2006 using a load factor of 1.5, a deflection limitation of span/180 and with the self weight of the section deducted.material grade s450, minimum yield strength 450n/mm2. For structural engineers wishing to check individual cases, ultimate loads are shown together with loads at different deflection criteria. in these cases the self weight of the purlin has not been deducted. tables are valid for roof pitches up to 25 degree slope.

The heavy end bay system offers an economic solution to the

larger and multispan type building, with the inner bays being of

a lighter gauge material.

The system caters for spans up to 15m dependant on loading

criteria, and is a fully continuous purlin system, with sleeves at

every joint.

The penultimate rafter is sleeved with a longer sleeve of a

heavier gauge equal to the end bay purlins to cater for the

higher moments in the end bay. The inner bay sleeves are

slightly longer than standard sleeves with double hole punchings

for sleeve connection, and are of the same lighter gauge as

intermediate purlins.

For the system to perform economically only buildings with a

minimum of five bays should be considered.

The heavy end bay system can also be supplied with the inner

bay purlins double spanning with single span purlins introduced

to stagger the rigid joints; as shown in the diagram.

Note: Rigid joint of double span purlins can be in line but

rafters need to be checked for extra stress.

The single span butted purlin/rail (non continuous system) is the

most simple of all the systems. Used generally for shorter spans

or where lighter loads apply as in agricutural buildings. It is

economical, easily detailed and purlins can be fitted either over

the rafters or between the rafter webs.

The heavy end bay system offers an economic solution to the

larger and multispan type building, with the inner bays being of

a lighter gauge material.

The system caters for spans up to 15m dependant on loading

criteria, and is a fully continuous purlin system, with sleeves at

every joint.

The penultimate rafter is sleeved with a longer sleeve of a

heavier gauge equal to the end bay purlins to cater for the

higher moments in the end bay. The inner bay sleeves are

slightly longer than standard sleeves with double hole punchings

for sleeve connection, and are of the same lighter gauge as

intermediate purlins.

For the system to perform economically only buildings with a

minimum of five bays should be considered.

The heavy end bay system can also be supplied with the inner

bay purlins double spanning with single span purlins introduced

to stagger the rigid joints; as shown in the diagram.

Note: Rigid joint of double span purlins can be in line but

rafters need to be checked for extra stress.

The single span butted purlin/rail (non continuous system) is the

most simple of all the systems. Used generally for shorter spans

or where lighter loads apply as in agricutural buildings. It is

economical, easily detailed and purlins can be fitted either over

the rafters or between the rafter webs.
