The cover page shows the image of the Blessed Virgin Mary with flowers as her crowning glory, this celebration of the Holy Rosary on the month of October of the first semester is one of our highlighted annual events. As years pass by, we CKCians together with the whole world, linger on dedicating this month long celebration to Our Lady. This image serves as a reminder to each of us, guiding us to be real men and women with CKC s core values imbued within us. 2 T h e K i n g s S c ro l l 3. #EDITORIAL 5 #NEWS 6-9 #PROGRAM NEWS 10-15 #SPORTS NEWS 16-19 #CENTERFOLD 22-23 #FEATURE mbrace Reality. M e ssagef ro m th eEDITOR To our dear readers, Praised be Jesus and Mary! Allow me to express my genuine thanks to you dear readers for patiently waiting for the release of this semester s issue. The same goes to the hands of those who shared their efforts and time in order to come up with this decent yield. I am truly grateful to them. I would like to extend my whole hearted gratefulness and appreciation to Mrs. Norma C. Palad, our moderator who never manipulated but instead guided us during the making of this school year s first issue, also to Mr. Patrick M. Dagaraga and the CKC administration for providing us the resources needed in order to complete this modest output. To the functioning staff of this publication who did not hesitate to work even when their feet were soaked from the rain water that unfortunately penetrated our working area, I could say that words are not enough to say how glad I am for your commendable hard work. For the students who contributed their intellectual assets to this semester s issue, thank you for allowing The King s Scroll to be a mediator of your personal thoughts towards the entire population of CKC. The first semester of the school year 2013-2014 has come to an end, another five months of our stay on this institution creating memories with the persons weve met has passed. With every activity the school completed, we made sure to capture the most unforgettable jiffies out of those events. In my four years here in Christ the King College never did I thought to be a part of the schools official publication, The King s Scroll, on which by name itself crafts great impact for those who would hear it. The King s Scroll, as the name implies, contains cherished treasures that the king would want to be protected by all means, and for us CKCians, these treasures signify the memories imbued within every single page of our publication. Our bare hands cant keep a tight grip over our memories for they are intangible in form, this is why I myself am thankful that we have this school publication where we can take a small trip back on those old days to reminisce the past and make a vivid vision of our future. This issue highlights several events that we CKCians have taken part of, like the 2013 Intramurals where we get to show our skills and abilities outside the array of academe. Even more important, this issue also highlights the Month of the Holy Rosary where we as men and women of FAITH, EXCELLENCE and SERVICE took part of the world wide celebration of the Holy Rosary dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Some say writing is a way of fearlessly expressing yourself when you find it hard to do it verbally. The world where we exist is full of challenges and inequalities, and the story of our race from our ancestor to the present generation is handed through written documentations. Writing should not be taken for granted because once in our Philippine History we were saved by a mere paper and ink. Ad Majorem De Gloriam!Yours in Christ, Farrah Starr D. Martinez Editor-in-Chief4 T h e K i n g s S c ro l l 5. #EDITORIALThe Visible Helping Hand is a SHAM! Participate, dont anticipate. That is what most of the citizens think they were doing during the peak of the Pork Barrel Scam issue. Nasty remarks here and there, even leaving some comments of every social networking site, but do we honestly think these words help the current situation? Because obviously those words are just making matters worse and out of control. The countrys administration has been continuously bombarded with criticisms, every single movement they made was scrutinized by judgmental eyes, and every decision is questioned and opposed, by whom? By the ample amount of critics, of course. The government leaders were turned into puppet played on the palms of their opponents who pull the strings, one negative word thrown to them and they start panicking, dragging their comrades just so they would not suffer the humiliation alone. Unfortunately, many Filipino citizens are currently suffering from different catastrophes that slap the face of our nation, may it be natural disasters or man-made disturbances, like that of what recently happened in the City of Zamboanga. In the shortage of government assistance, where were the non-profit organizations when the people need them, arent they supposed to extend support to the grieving citizens? Non-profit Organizations name and credibility has been tainted by a single individual, they were slowly consumed by the dark image that a single person managed to create. In times of worst calamities, where were the officials who bravely pledge their full loyalty to the country in front of the Philippine Flag. HELP is just a four letter word but it brings forth big significance in every Filipinos lives, for the past years weve survive some of nastiest difficulties that hit our country and that is because we believed that the government as well as different organizationswho willingly extend their help are there , always ready to back us up. But this time it is on a different case, the news every night only brings depression as the same words are repeated continuously THE GOVERNMENT IS A SHAM! Trust that was built by the citizens towards the people, whom they thought to have a helping hand, is now gradually deteriorating. What would happen to the next generation if the current one leaves a mess that is impossible to fix? The Pork Barrel Scandal creates a chain reaction that affects not only the ones being grilled, but even the people who are witnessing the interrogation feels the burden of the never ending problems that continue to burst out of their safety box. The visible hands of the government that we once believe to be serving its purpose in the end turn out to be a hand that manipulates persons mind. Let us all embrace reality and stop dwelling in a deceitful abode, but does that mean we also have to live according to what we see? We are witnessing the chaos created by the government officials among themselves, but to add on to these chaos by doing rebellions and acting all persistent is not helping at all. When we feel like our bridges of hopes are crumbling, it is then we have to stand and toughen our own foundation. We live with the support we receive, but let us bear in mind that support is only a part of the entire structure, its our grounds that shapes up or existence. Someone has said that we are worth dying for, then let us not make his death futile and unify our faith to the one above. They can say that it might not be the end of the world, but disregarding this subject might be the end of you.T h e K i n g s S c ro l l 5 6. #NEWSBalik Eskwela 2013: Freshmen and Transferees Orientation Rhoqueza Fabe Christ the King College orientation to the freshmen and transferees took place last June 18, 2013 at Mo. Apugan Rightful living might be a challenging thought, because its intensively hard for us to live an upright life with the unbend realities surrounding us. Wherever we gaze, influential factors that might destroy our values and identity are always present. Pitiful as it may seem, but we cannot deny the fact that we youth are the most easy victims. For our fresh and uncorrupted minds wanders with curiosity, seeking some attention from purposely hidden things, these factors make us weak to fight and ignore the evil temptations of the interesting world. As what we heard, numbers of drug abusers ascends rapidly through years, crimes resulting from illegal use of drugs are everywhere, and the authorities lay helpless and outnumbered by these criminals who unfortunately are minors. How can we see a solution, when the citizens themselves do not stand up and help themselves, maybe because they are also fan of these inappropriate actions? Drug problems are just part of the whole cake, the other twist that did the trick is the existence of STDs. Almost in every corner of the globe, HIV is residing, it became widespread, like a chain reaction passing form one host to another, searching for its next victim and eventually bringing slow and torturous death. What a waste of life! This disease wont be as it is today if only people now how to avoid divulging into acts that bring forth this illness. Reality check! Why do some person involve themselves on such act when they already know the possible grave effects, it is really a question of morality. Drug abuse, AIDS, are not the only evident problem in our society, these are just common exemplars. Poverty, hunger, corruption, chaos of vast crimes, and murder are widely seen and adds to the list of challenges our country is facing. Even the food that we eat2 0 T h e K i n g s S c ro l lin order to survive contains strings that connects us to our graves and shortens our life span. Unfortunately, we cannot easily close our eyes in fear of seeing the worsening situation of the human race. As youths, this is like being a pilgrim without knowing what comes next; we are fruits of different backgrounds, these grounds motivate us on what we do, and shape us of what we want and choose. People may not have the right to blame us when we indulge ourselves into drug usage but its a matter of choosing what is right from wrong, a matter of adjustment or destruction. We have to keep in mind that whenever we destroy ourselves, we destroy not only ours but the entire nations future. Being a citizen, future leaders, we are committed. Its wise to choose the path of goodness and become productive; we must spend our best potentials and do decent deeds for our countrys sake and most of all, for Gods glory. If God is the foundation of all we do, then acts are right and true, even if the world offers deceitful pleasures. God helps us embrace reality, and give us courage to survive and live rightfully! Ad Majorem De Gloriam 21. #FEATURELouella Mariano Hail Mary Aba Ginoong Maria Maghimaya ka Maria For over hundreds of years, words like these from the Holy Rosary prayer have been heard and can still be heard from the mouths of the devoted Roman Catholics, in the Philippines and the whole world. The praying of the Holy Rosary appear to us Catholics as common practice for it is usually part of the Novenas during feasts, thanks giving and daily meditations. At times it also serves as a comfort from our fears, a call in case of dangers and uncertainties, for this the church marked October, as a significant month as The Month of the Holy Rosary. On the rainy evening of October 31, 2013, Christ the King College, like what it has been practicing for years, has commemorated this celebration. The event was rather a perfect time for the CKCians to pray for peace and special intentions as a family and to promote the Holy Rosary as a part of an individuals way of living. At 6 oclock, college students with the faculty and staff gathered inside the Mo. Ignacia Gymnasium for the Opening of the Month of the Holy Rosary. Candles were lighted and select students form each program, who served as human rosary beads, carried candles moving towards the center to emulate the form of the rosary. The Rosary (from the latin word rosarium, meaning Crown of Roses, or Garland of Roses), is a Roman Catholic sacramental and Marian Devotion to prayer and the commemoration of Jesus and the events of His life. The history of the practice and power of the Holy Rosary can be traced back on the twelfth and thirteenth century, France, form St. Dominic receiving the Rosary form Our Lady in the year 1214, to the preaching of the Blessed Alan de la Roche, which through the intercession of Our Lady, made the rosary a widespread devotion. Then to the establishment of the Feast of the Most Holy Rosary which is celebrated every October 7 th made by Pope Saint Pius V on Oct. 7, 1571. Starting from these times, mouths has been saying statements about miracles, battles won, prayers answered and life conversed because of this devotion as Pope Pius IX stated. Among all devotions approved by the church, none has been so favored by so many miracles as the devotion of the Most Holy Rosary. The secret that makes this prayer so effective according to Fr. Gabriel Amorth is that the rosary is both a prayer and meditation. It is addressed to the Farther, to the Blessed Virgin and to the Holy Trinity and its meditation centered to Christ.opportunity to introduce the power of this prayer not only to the youth but to every Catholics and encourage them to develop this as a habit. Here are some of the reasons why we should pray the Holy Rosary: 1. In the fight against the temptation and Satan, a wimpy and sporadic prayer life simply wont do. 2. Because world peace isnt just answer for beauty pageant contestants. 3. Because like most of us, Jesus listens to his mother. 4. Miracles do happen. 5. Because meditation helps us to see for the first time. As Catholics, praying the Rosary is one useful and important way to increase our faith, and to address our special intentions most specially for peace, love and reconciliation not only for ourselves, for our families but also for others, for someone says, The greatest gift we can give to tohers is our prayers.# Together let us pray for peace. Abugho Fear and excitement were my feelings when I first enter the portal of Christ the King College. Fear of being discriminated and teased by my schoolmates. I was a very shy girl who grew up in the middle of a nowhere land, as I would call it. I deemed myself ignorant about life in the city, growing up in that remote area gave me fright of interacting with people. For until then, I was with no one other than my family members. That area where we live is away from the centro of our barangay where majority of the people live, and because of that, I wasnt given an opportunity to develop my confidence when facing strangers. I used to believe that when an individual gets stuck to doing what he usually does, he will be left in the dark. However, I was proven wrong, because I came to learn that everything an individual has can change as long as one is open enough for the upcoming changes. I feel excited because I am eager to meet new faces coming from different barangays in the city, and Im quite sure they will soon to be my classmates and friend as well. I have this positive thinking in the midst of my weaknesses, since I believe in myself. I believe that this ignorance will not remain forever. I am open-minded and a flexible individual so I need not to worry. All I need is to have a goal in everything that I plan to do. Giving the best that I have not to please anyone, but to satisfy myself and to secure my future. But of course, I am aware that I cannot not do those things even if I wanted to without the people who serves as my inspiration for striving hard. Enrolling here in Christ the King College was not part of my plan, I do know that my familys resources are not enough to afford the rather costly tuition. Nevertheless, I still did not stop myself from dreaming to attend on this institution since I was a kid due to my mothers stories, she told me how her life is when she was once a student of CKC. Fortunately, I was given a chance to be in this institution in accord to my sponsors generosity. I cannot describe my hearts happiness when I heard the news from them. Thus, I grabbed the opportunity right away and told them that I can be a student they can trust, I vowed to myself that I would never do foolish things that will make them regret the day they made that decision of helping me.2 4 T h e K i n g s S c ro l l Although I feel from the start that it is very hard adjusting in the environment I got myself into, I need to accept the responsibilities given to me as a working student. That was my first time to be away from my family, all the days I spent away from them seems like an addition to my miseries. However, the thought of quitting or surrendering never crossed my mind, instead those feeling of loneliness only serve as my motivation to continue on what I started. I always remind myself that life is never easy, it always give trials that build strong foundations for us to choose the right track in life. Years had passed, and now I am already at the last level of my college journey. The first semester is already closing its doors, and few months after this, I will be striding towards that simple paper which symbolizes all of my hard work. Oh, its unbelievable! On times when I am alone, I often think about those times when I doubted myself and ask questions like How terrible studying, and how fast time pass by? Eventually I realized that through my long stay at CKC, Im always occupied doing things for my own, overlooking the purpose that what I am doing is also for my family who never left me in this ultimate journey of my life.# 25. #FEATUREAriel C. Simene Socially relevant issues that is tossing the common people has been a continuous profile toward the edges. Probing these issues might take a birds eye view where anybody can ask, but the point is, do they hit the pot that will set free these oppressed people from the claws of compelling difficulties? For some minds, these stuffs are immaterial to be exact or even just bits where anyone can easily step on it and has a great chances of trashing. But, do you think a progressive society gains prominence of economic status without looking outwardly within the symbolic people of the place? Try to imagine Poverty, deprivation of economic status, long wave of oppression and a dramatic scarcitythese are the basic structures that subdivided the eloquence of men. As a fact, levels of societal standing make a variation of people which results to branding names creating barrier between them, thus cutting their mutual connection and linkages. As a start, Christ the King College with the initiation of the devoted RVM sisters has paved an initial path that would soon become a subsequent means of bolder transfer of connection with these long enough unfortunate people by having community extension services. Conducting these particulars has costs all the combined efforts of the students and the CKC staff. These services handed by Christ the King College includes programs such as ; FEEDING where those unfortunate children are given food to suffice the famished stomachs; MEDICAL CHECKUPS and CONSULATIONS for those whore suffering on some pains but dont have the resources to tend for their own medications; COMMUNITY CLEANUP DRIVES where the CKC team nurtures the ecological ambience in cooperation with other organizations who are interested on cherishing mother nature; and occasionally conducting livelihood orientations and even healthy lifestyle tips. Alongside with these, CKC also strengthens its involvement on religious aspects with thechurch as well as collaborating on other groups when partaking into catechisms. Practically these programs do not represent an action to make names. It is however, an action to become partners. The idea of conducting these events is a result of the flexible bond og love, selfless service, munificent hearts, and never on pity alone. As perceived of becoming real partners, we already thought and imagine of getting married , but the sense of it is to become a genuine partner in good customary actions toward the under privileged. Lucky are we of grabbing some of potentialities in life, but what about the marginalized? Dont they deserve the same privileged we are enjoying right now? All of us are in capacity of becoming real partners to those poor people out there. It is not with greater matter as to how big you will contribute, but what matters most is how big will be the effect of your contribution into their lives. Let us always remember this, kapag sama-sama walang maiiwan. Unity speaks success at a right place and at a right time. Accordingly as quoted by Steve Jobs, The best way to do great things is to love you work. Indeed let us try to address the echoing relevant issues in the society as a start to rebuild the entirety for a wider pace of prosperity and development that we all are wishing for.#T h e K i n g s S c ro l l 2 5 26. Amelie Estrada Farrah Starr Martinez Great power comes with great responsibility. acclaimed by Peter Parkers uncle on the movie Spiderman. Responsibility. Many have known and heard the astounding term but only a few bothered to dig deeper and understand the weight of its meaning. The word denotes someone who can be faithful to every fellow individual in the society, one who could proudly present their open-mindedness and willingness to help and aim for the betterment of the place where he/she belongs. A single word can stir peoples passion to commit themselves to particular tasks and manipulate ones heart to better distinguish the difference between necessities, wants and desires. These people who gladly embrace the real meaning of the word RESPONSIBILITY love to work with an open-heart and not for mere self-interest. They can be a friendly shelter and refuge, possessing good attitudes in a way to scope self-confidence rather than dwell on confusion and inferiority. They give their best to proudly present their honor.they are----STUDENT LEADERS. Blessed is the student body of Christ the King College for having student leaders who do their best to assist on facilitating every single activity conducted by the institution, from trifling symposiums to hefty scale activities such as intramurals. Becoming student leaders amidst huge number of student population on CKC is not that easy, as the real essence of the word leadership has been abused by some of the so-called models of our government. Every student activity steered by CKC aims to develop the wellbeing of CKCians who entrusted their future unto this institution, and throughout the eons, the limelight has always been pointing to the students who were the main focus of those events. As one activity concludes after the other, students always have something on their pockets to ponder on their journey to the big apple of life. How about we try to see the story on an altered point of view, did we care to recognize the people behind those events? Did we even try to wonder who made all of those possible? If not then stop! Double take and look again. As they say its really hard to read between the lines (especially when you dont know how to read), but it wont take that much scrutiny to know that stage decors do not attach themselves on to the wall, lights do not switch on their own, and certainly podiums do not speak to coax the flow of a program (that would be creepy). That is right, student leaders manage to divide these tasks (or some may not ) just to make these purpose driven events productive as it ought to be. These student leaders manage to preserve the core values of CKC as the very foundation of their own being, these values were deeply imbued within the leaders that they take it with them whether in or out the school premises. Before we start mumbling profanities on the mistakes they unconsciously did, why dont we start asking ourselves what have we done for the institution we are in? We prided ourselves as CKCians, who live the Marian-Ignacian spirituality of humble servant hood.we need to start acting like one and find the leaders within us, for on Gods eyes we are equal and worthy, being men and women of FAITH, EXCELLENCE and SERVICE. I dont know where to start writing because seeing the white paper on the word document makes me want to lose my mind in the loo. I mean seriously; my mind hasnt recovered yet from furious but rather quiet screams of profanities because of a 30 hour brown-out! So I just decided to start with mindless ramblings until the hinges on my brain are ready to work smoothly and I could not stop typing, so here it goes My mind wanders to the symposium facilitated by Dr. Rene Josef Bullecer, yep that guy; you know the one who perspires---no wait! Crash that out---erase, erase, I mean the one who secretes marvelous ideas and shows photographs that makes your eyeballs bulge out of their sockets, now surely were thinking of the same guy. Anyway, as my mind does a little somersault on those unending teenage issues he presented, I got stuck on one particular issue, and that is (drum rolls) Teenage pregnancy, with capital T on top. Hey, Im a female too, (although Im no longer on my teens, oh well, time surely passes quickly), and that rather sensitive dispute bugs me out like crazy, like really, at such early age already having baby, they sure are obedient to Gods orders, you know the Go to the world and multiply one. But what theyre during is barely multiplying, it raising the variable to the nth power people! Talk about exponents. The population growth on the Philippines is not shocking news (Its getting typical really), the fact that teenagers are the ones giving birth to these little angels is the one that is disturbing.2 8 T h e K i n g s S c ro l lSeems like babies nowadays just puff out of the thin air like theyve grown from spores, we have this male acquaintance whos got a girl on his doorstep so early in the morning claiming shes carrying hes baby! Like a movie scene huh, but it really happened. Dont ask me how I know, rumors spread easily because of modern technology, hehe. Ive also heard of a girl making business out of babies, like she gave birth to them then offer them for adoption; although many things are going instant these days, like instant coffees, noodles and foods, I never thought an instant baby is also on sale in the market, I got goose bumps just by imagining it. And before you judge me, Im certainly not a tsismosa, just a concerned citizen, that what they call us these days. The most heartbreaking part is that no matter how fecund the reality that many infants are found on church doors and lifeless fetuses are found on dim corners; even so the government has not yet found a solution to lessen the weight of the circumstances. The worsening situation drags the name of some of the innocent youngsters and taints their minds, to stop these from happening we should not just cut the branches but dig straight up to the roots. My eyes hurt, my fingers are numb, I guess I better retire for the night and call it a day then, but no matter how I despise the idea of teenage pregnancy like I detest instant noodles, Im still addicted to coke mismo. Now off to dreamland. 29. #FEATUREwork hard on the field and tired but still, their salary isnt enough to satisfy their everyday meals and living. Karlo Benecio A. Cezar II Young children; playing different sports or street games, flying kites, running, going to the beach, reading books, doing assignments, listening to teachers and so many other stuffs a young kid can do on his early stage of life. He has the right and the energy to play on the rain or play under the roof of the intense sun. He can even enjoy himself watching television; cartoons, sitcom on local broadcast or fantasies with their parents guidance. Feeling easy-breezy, climb trees, portraying his favorite character, singing jolly songs, learning a lot at school and cable of having really having fun at small yet on their small ways. These are just few of the fortunate rights and privileges that a Filipino kid can do. But not everyone enjoys and enriches himself with these. Some, at their very young age, already started to work for a living just to provide an extra income to help their mother and father. While others picked up dolls and balls, others picked their bolo or maybe their pala. While others go out early as the sun rises up to play with their friends, others got up and started to work their young arms to carry loads of sacks of vegetables or maybe gravels, sands or anything just to survive his needs and his familys. Maybe, we see ourselves living in a typical or luxurious life; maybe some feels locked up in school or forced to study but think of others who work for food, for shelter and for everyday necessity. This is the gruesome case that is present here on the Philippines, the child labor. Nearly 78.5 million children, according to the estimates of National Statistics Office (NSO), engage themselves in this menace. But this estimation was nearly understated due to lack of reliable statistics and data covered. But what is really child labor? Child labor is a work that harms children and or keeps them from attending to school. It is an illegal form of employment of children below 18 years old and this is prohibited and punishable by law. This threatens the childs physical, mental and emotional well-being. Most of this child labor cases occurs on almost every faces of industry- in agriculture, manufacturing, mining and quarrying and on domestic services. The government has already passed and implemented laws to protect children from this harmful early labor but the implementation on the actual case was the gap of the law. Child labor is supposed to be prohibited and punishable but it turns out that it can still free its wings of meager effect on some children. Many already wrote on about child labor which is present in almost every part of the globe. In Kristen Heieman and Rhea Binahons article, they introduced and exposed few of abject stories from slavish children who experience themselves the bitter taste of child labor. A 14 yr. old named Eddie started to work as a diver. On his very young age, he works on a company together with the other 350 divers and 4 managers for 10 months. According to him, the company pays them every end of the month but they were treated as an animal. Every time they committed a mistake they were whipped and beaten. Workers were compelled to work despite of illness and the food was deducted from the salary. They are, unfortunately, included in 1 out of 6 children laborers in the Philippines. Together with them were the young paid laborers carrying heavy workloads, those minors who sell cigars, candy or even newspaper on the bus stations or sidewalk, the kids who used to watch your car on parking lots and even those who sells balut or scarves the trash to sell on junkshops. This is not a good face for the young generation. Even if the youths has an excellent achievement and world winning piece of proposition, let us not forget and turn our head on the issue of child labor especially here in our country. They should not be the one who must really provide but instead, they are the one who really need to receive such provident care, attention and love. Moreover, the garbage, and hazardous exposure on chemicals shouldnt be the one who provide them for their future, but, it should be their own family and the government! Where is that tuwid na daan that the president is referring to? Where can we find it or walk on through it? As we do reverie on this case, some of the child found a great harming escape through vices. Another problem has distended the preceding problem. The matter wont change until certain solutions and plans to diminish this scenario will be laid upon. But as this still roomed around in the society, let us just remember that every child deserves to be love and to be cared for and not to be treated as slaves. According to Jose Diokno, there is one dream that Filipinos share: that our children may have a better life than we had there is one vision that is distinctly Filipino: the vision to make this country, our country, a nation for our children. As we share a thought, raise up every possible mischievous solution to revert this case, to treat up the bitter taste of the society and just maybe one day, we can treat the solution just like a kid who needs a candy; a candy thatll make everything at ease and everything would be alright. A candy thatll make the bitter side of child labor, gone and turn into a sweet cherry pop of happiness and more education and fun for every growing individuals of the hope of the nation someday. Another victim of child labor was Darryl. Hes 15 yrs. old who help his father in the farmland in which his father doesnt own. He didnt believe that he was blessed but rather condemned. He was not alone with his grievous situation. He was together with Rossie, who works on a sugarcane field when shes 7 yrs. old. She stopped going to school because her family has more debt and things to use for the money than going on for her education. They both long to even eat with a single viand or even with soup together with their rice. TheyT h e K i n g s S c ro l l 2 9 30. #FEATUREMary Lou B. Densing Una piedra bloquea su camino. A stone blocks her way. Piedra is a Spanish word for stone and defined as hard solid non-metallic mineral matter commonly used as a building material. It is plainly characterized as a blocking force for a particular purpose like a concrete construction. I know of a person who I come to describe as a stone. Her main character is someone who always does her best to block me. She stands firm, raises her eyebrows; bulges her eyes, and makes her face look terribly frightful. Just like a stone, she is so tough and strong. I just couldnt simply push her away. Whenever she throws her words of criticism to me, surely it will always upset me. Some people say that I should not let her affect me because it will mean that she is right with everything she says against me. But they should also try to understand that since I consider her as a stone, that every time a stone is thrown to someone, we have to admit that it will really hurt. She was so stiff with her mark to defeat me and would never be shaken by any form of interferences only to conquer me down. She was already a senior officer while I was just a neophyte yet she lowered her level and tied herself to weigh me down. I cried, knelt down, and invested time to deliberate deep thoughts just to understand everything she has done to me. But I really thanked God for allowing me to have the grace to see things the way He wanted me to see them. He made me realized that instead to take her as a burden in my daily undertaking; I could consider her as one of my motivations to keep on doing things right because she was just waiting for me to screw up. She would be the first person to be happy if she could see a small fluff from all my struggles; she would surely give a loud applause if I shortly fail. Because of her, it was been easy for me to distinguish who were really my true friends, they were those who still believe and still give their boundless confidence in me when most from the group just fling their affirmations to her; I also practiced to hold on to my words especially when it was better to stay silent. Because of her, I also learned to filter which thoughts to consider, and dropped all views that were meant to interrupt my focus. Every time theres someone who insinuates me to answer her back, I just shrugged my shoulder and said I am really busy. Sometimes its not easy to say, yet it was surely a winning statement. Because of her, I always pushed myself to do things vigorously whenever she exclaimed to the crowd that I just could not do it. And last yet importan
