IMPACT ON MATERNAL AND PERINATAL OUTCOME

Abstract

Objectives: Screening for thyroid disorder in pregnancy and its impact on maternal

and perinatal outcome.

Meth!s: This is a prospective study, with the study group comprising 510 pregnant

women where fasting serum sample collected for serum THYR!" ST!#$%&T!'(

HR#') estimation ,at first antenatal visit. *hen serum TSH value a+normal

freeT, free T- estimation was done. Ris factors were analysed. /atients were

followed till delivery.

Res"#ts: !n the study group incidence of hyperthyroidism is 0., incidence of overt

hypothyroidism is 1.-, incidence of su+clinical hypothyroidism is -.. *omen

with ris factors have less incidence of thyroid a+normality. &de2uately treated

thyroid a+normal women were good maternal and perinatal outcome.

C$c#"si$: !ncidence of thyroid disorders in our study population is high compared

to other study .women without ris factors have more incidence of thyroid disorders.

These indicates all pregnant women should undergone screening for thyroid disorder

at first +ooing antenatal visit +ased on serum TSH.

%e&'r!s: Thyroid stimulating hormone,freeT,freeT-.
