1. ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
I would like to express my special thanks of gratitude to my teacher, Puan Radziah binti Md Din as well as our chief scientific committee, Puan Norsilah Kamaruddin who gave me the golden opportunity to do this wonderful project on the topic The Air Around Us – Air Pollutions, which also helped me in doing a lot of Research and I came to know about so many new things. I am really thankful to them. Secondly I would also like to thank my parents and friends who helped me a lot in finishing this project within the limited time. I am making this project not only for marks but to also increase my knowledge.

2. INTRODUCTION OF AIR POLLUTION
What is Air Pollution?
1) Air pollution is the unwanted and harmful substances
that been added to the air by factories, motor vehicles,
forests fires, the development of large housing estates
and the extensive use of the chlorofluorocarbon(CFC).
2) It occurs when the atmosphere contains pollutants.
What is Air Pollutants?
1) Air pollutants are harmful chemicals or substances
present in the air. They can affect human beings and
the environment in a negative way.
2) Examples of air pollutants are smoke, dust, carbon
monoxides and oxides of nitrogen, sulphur dioxide,
lead, and chlorofluorocarbon.

3. AIR POLLUTANTS AND ITS SOURCES
AIR POLLUTANTS SOURCESDust Saw mills
Quarries Construction sites Construction factories
Smoke particles and soot Cigarette smoke Forest fires Burning of rubbish Burning of fuels Smoke from motor
vehiclesChlorofluorocarbon(CFC) Aerosol sprays
Electronic works Refrigerator and air

Pesticides Excessive pesticides used in agriculture
Fogging to kill mosquitoes
Lead Burning of petrol containing lead in vehicles

5. STEPS TO CONTROL AIR POLLUTION
the habit of smoking must be stopped
motorists should use unleaded pet
replant forests for absorbing carbon dioxide
farmers should reduce the uses of pesticides do not allow open burning in residential areas

6. SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO KEEP THE AIR CLEAN
ban open burning of rubbishprevent forests fires
keep a strict watch on the disposal of radioactive waste
run campaigns to explains what individuals must do to keep air clean
ensure motor vehicles use catalytic converters

7. PRACTISE HABITS THAT KEEP THE AIR CLEAN
do not smoke in public places
do not rubbish in open air ensure your motor vehicles do not give out excessive black
smoke
walk or cycle instead of going by cars
plant trees in your house compounds and in open spaces
