BHPS Vision Statement  The BHPS district will provide a world-class, whole child

education that offers equitable opportunities for all students. This will occur in a collaborative environment that infuses a comprehensive curriculum with 21st Century Skills, including critical thinking, communication, collaboration, creativity, and innovation. All students will become responsible at the global, community, and personal levels. Students, parents, staff, community, and Board of Education are accountable for achieving this vision.

What is the 1:1 iPad Learning Technology Initiative?

 •  A strategic approach to creating future-ready schools – An iPad for every district teacher and GLHS student – Broadband connectivity to the schools – Wireless Internet access throughout the schools – Other technology resources - Software, printers,

projectors, digital cameras, science probes, etc. – Teachers use technology to enhance teaching and

learning – 21st Century Skills integrated into the curriculum

• To prepare future-ready students, we must provide future-ready environments in our schools.

Critical Success Factors  q  Committed school and district leadership teams made up of

instructional, curriculum, technology, and administrative leaders; q  Updated curriculum, teaching methods, and assessments that

incorporate 21st Century Skills as central goals;

q  Professional development and ongoing support for teachers as they reshape and update teaching practices and curriculum content;

q  School-based staff who provide instructional support for the use of technology to enhance learning and technical support to ensure that the technology is reliable and up-to-date;

Page 6: Scott McKinney Judith Rattner Robert Nixon Susan Rembetsy ... 25.pdf– Other technology resources - Software, printers, projectors, digital cameras, science probes, etc. – Teachers

Critical Success Factors q High bandwidth connectivity to the school and sufficient

wireless connectivity throughout the school; q An iPad computer for each teacher, administrator, and

GLHS student; q Technology tools in each classroom, such as printers,

projectors, digital white boards, document cameras, and curriculum specific resources;

q Strategies for ensuring student safety and appropriate use

of computers.

  Planning and preparation required before students receive computers

 Ongoing professional development is imperative  Defining the appropriate balance between student safety,

acceptable use, and access to web-based resources is difficult  Classroom management strategies and tools are an integral

component of the initiative   Skilled Technology Facilitators play a significant role in the

success of technology integration into classroom practices
