Scorpions, Whitesnake and Dokken at the Universal Amphitheater By Revn Kevin What a line-up, my favorites the Scorpions along with Whitesnake and Dokken. These are definitely some of the best rock voices going and to have them on the same stage on the same night was a real treat. In the middle of a nationwide tour, tonight's show at a sold-out Universal Amphitheater was wonderful with all three bands sounding and playing great. Hats off to the sound crew at the Amphitheater as the mix was great, a real pleasure for the audience. In support of their 2002 CMC Records release "Long Way Home" was opening act Dokken. Vocalist Don Dokken was backed by guitarist Alex De Rosso, bassist Barry Sparks and drummer Mike Brown and although it's been many years since they toured they sounded great. They played all their hits such including "Breaking the Chains", "Into the Fire", "Alone Again" and Don's voice was as strong as ever. If you are a Dokken fan and missed this show then head over to their website at www.dokken.net and find out when they'll be back. The next band up was Whitesnake, and they also haven't toured in quite awhile. Singer David Coverdale enlisted guitarists Reb Beach and Doug Aldrich along with drumming great Tommy Aldridge to come along on this tour and the response has been phenomenal. In October of 2002 the band released on Geffen records "Here We Go Again: The Whitesnake Collection" which is a compilation of their greatest hits digitally re- mastered. Quoting singer Coverdale, "in 2003 a new Whitesnake will slither on stage to rock a new decade" and tonight they definitely rocked. Masters of the power love ballad, they played all their top 40 hits like "Here I Go Again", Is This Love", "Slow and Easy" with the crowd singing along just like it was the 80's again. You can find out more about what Whitesnake is planning by visiting their website at www.davidcoverdale.com . The Scorpions hit the stage and the fun continued. Thirty years since their first release these guys still put on one of the most energetic and exciting shows around. Whether it's the searing metal of "Blackout" or the heartfelt ballad "Wind of Change" these guys play with heart and soul. They played a lot of their top ten hits like "No One Like You", "Rock You Like A Hurricane" and
