    SCOPE OF PHYSICAL SCIENCE

THE present position of physical science is that a large body of observations have been correlated by the

two processes of abstraction and hypothesis. Abstraction has led us virtually to a contorted space-time,

and hypothesis to a scheme of concepts unpicturable by the imagination. Both space-time and the

scheme of concepts, however, by obeying prescribed rules, reproduce the data of observation, so thatout of pure conceptions, having only a rational meaning, we can evolve, as it were, a very large part of

the world of experience. This is the great achievement of modern physical science.

    PHYSICS AS A CAREER OPTION

Physics is fundamental and foundation for all scientific inventions so it has wide range of Career

opportunities. So developing a career, as a physics graduate, students can have the benefit of multiple

    choices as specified:

    Can become a scientist

Can Opt for work that involves science outside the laboratory

Can consider offers from the broad range of employers, who are keen to recruit to do something

quite different in the Physics related field.

Physicists are the most fundamental of scientists, for they examine the basic laws of nature. A physicist's

job can be broadly classified into two major categories.

    1. An experimentalist

    2. A theoretician

The Career in Physics basically offers two options, the professional option and the applied option, for

students pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in physics.

Physics as professional option: The professional option is intended for students who, usually

after graduate study, expect to become physicists in industrial or government research and

development laboratories, or in teaching institutions.

Physics as applied option: The applied option is intended for students who plan to pursue a

technical career in physics or other technical areas, usually without further study. The general option is aflexible liberal arts program with physics as a major component for students who do not necessarily

    wish to become physicists.

Almost all the above mentioned career options come with higher educational degrees such as Master's

Degrees, Doctorates which are essential for college and university teaching and research, upper level

research positions in the Government / industry, and higher administrative positions.

Those with bachelor's degrees may work in applied research and development as research assistants or

in design, administration or engineering. Physics People often apply their predictions and theories to

other fields - chemistry, biology, geophysics, engineering, communication, transportation, electronics

    and health.
