Last month a horrendous seen took place in Utah. 21 year old Brandon Wright was trapped under a burning car after an asswipe pulled out in front of him. Brandons life was saved by people that did’nt even know him as bystanders quickly ran to the rescue lifting the burning cage off him dragging him to safety.
You may be thinkng he will never ride again. WRONG!! Brandon can’t wait to ride again, but he stated he will never ride without a helmet now though. Brandon said when he’s heals he plans to go back to school and get his life back in order. He also has a desire to do more charity work and to help others. “DDay”

Tom is known to be the life of any party and loves life more then anyone we know There was 7 groups that came together to show support for Tom. They came from Palatka, Sanford, Crystal River, Daytona/Deltona, Leesburg, and a group from KoolKatz. The ride ended up at County Line in Weirsdale were there was at least 80-100 bikes throughout the day. Money was raised to help Tom with doctor bills and everyday living expensives. Not sure who was doing the BBQ but for $5 a plate is was yummy and enough to fill you up. No Warning was rocking the house for all of us. Thank you all who joined and got all theses rides together to celebrate Tom’s life.(Cont. Pg. 25)

3rd Saturday of October
Monthly Party
Fellow Biker Steve Gaither (AKA Pitstop) asked me to join him in welcoming his dad , Harold, & Uncle Bob home from their ride up north to Illinois. They are claiming it is their last long ride together. The brothers now both 70ish have been riding together for many years. And this trip was 2200 miles round trip. The purpose of the ride was to see Uncle Bob’s son compete in several Auto-motive Flat track races. Of course that’s not all they did, and we’ll leave it at that! Uncle Bob was unsure that his bike would make it, so his friend John loaned him his. We met the dynamic duo at Crock’s Pub in Dunnellon, to escort the triumphant brothers back to Crystal River Biker Style. They admitted they had a great time so I think maybe they’ll do just 1 more ride! Keep the topside up! Freewheelin Franklin

to go for Bloody Mary’s and biscuits n gravy. They had their bike show, burn out pit, and Mckinley & Beggs playing all day. Love to hear and see a band that has a fiddle. Some headed back home but myself, Rick, TracyJo, and Steve stayed so we hit Mickey’s for one then back to HO, where Rick had to start the burn out’s as no one signed up for the event. He did it mainly for Tator (lil 5 yr old). It was so good to see some of my Brooksville and Tampa peeps. Sorry we missed Terry Cole but we were all burnt out, it was a fun but long weekend. Up coming eventsin October....Spooks n Scoots first weekend in October....Cottee Riv-er Bike Fest 7-9.....Biketoberfest with meet n greet at Broken Spoke on the 15th (created by the lovely EM).....and the most important Scootergoods and Windy Acres Halloween and 7yr Anniversary Party 28-30....Go to www.scootergoods .com for more details on any local events, benefits, or runs in your local area. “MONKEY”

We showed up and Saturday around 6ish soaked from running into a few showers on our way. Bobby Friss sure showed us all a great time as he always does. Went back for seconds on Sunday had

500 bikes in that parking lot, has got to be a record! The police escorted ride was nice, & there was one minor mishap right after we left. At the Bayport Inn it was standing room only. It was a good time and we are glad to see all our the brothers and sisters turn out to Honor the 3000 Innocent Men and Woman who lost their life on that tragic day. Another time in history that we will never forget, Next No Skool is going to Spooks and Scoots, to see how it is this year. We were asked to run the bike games this year, but no one got back with us to let us know for sure so we will see what happens. Let you know next month. Last but not least we will be at Windy Acres in Fruitland Park for the best Halloween party around. If you like the Brooksville Old Skool Biker Rodeo, you will like Windy Acres Halloween Bikefest. I’m sure Janet will be at the gate to welcome you with a smile and maybe a cold one. Scootergood is going to have their 7th Anniversary Celebration. Adult games and Sexy Costume Contest is always worth going to see. Hope to see you their. Ride Like U Stole It No Skool

To the staff at Scootergoods Magazine, My gratitude goes beyond words. Don V, you said 500 bikes and we had over 600. John you said we can park every bike that comes to the Sail Inn, and ya’ll did. My Vets never surprise me at what they can make happen, but there are never the words to say how much it carries me. I love you all and want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for an incredible day. Lea was smiling down on his broth-ers in arms. We managed to make enough in donations for postage to keep our troops supplied in goodies through the Holidays. There are 9/11 Event shirts available for order on the web site. www.leasprayersandpostage.com Thanks to all who rode. On Aug. 27th we took a ride to the 6th Starke Bike Fest up in BradfordCty. Fl. It was hot enough to fry anegg on your seat, so we stayedhydrated with beer stops along theway. 3rd stop was Knuckledraggersand just like every year it was a Biker Bee Hive buslin’ with mayhemand laughter, Live Music, Cold Beer & Wells for the 100’eds of bikers there. Then it was Downtown next. The Fest Area was nicely layed out down Call St. which has room
for a coupla 1000 scoots. Beer was $2.50 in shops, & $3 on the street. Every spot there was any shade, was dotted with herds of Bikers stayin’ outta the sun drinking lots of brew. We trolled the St.
& checked out the numerous vendors. They had everything from Appetizers to Bum Crumbs (chips-pretzels) and Biker Garb. And as usual the babes where ogling the many tables of jewlery. There was a never ending line of scoots headed into the Downtown Area. And alotta of them where women riding their own bikes. (Cont.35)

(Starke From 30) Ahhhh that is very good to see.
But it was nut roastin’ hot, so after a coupla hours we headed back for Knuckledragger’s. When we got there the parking lot was OVERFLOWIN’ with scoots. (there musta been 500) We went inside for a little A/C and another nice cold beer. They where doing a brisk and steady business at the counter, selling parts and swags. It was a great ride home with a stop at my favorite northern advertiser the Sunray Saloon. A big thanks to the Citrus cty. crew for invitin’ me along. I enjoyed the Ridin’, Laughin’ Smokin’ & DirtyJokin’ & look forward to ridin’ with you all again in the near future. “Chapdawg”

Whats up Brothers and Sisters: Lets change it up some this month as I have not been out much & the ole dollar just dont go as far these days. Now it’s end of summer & perfect riding weather but as, here is a cool, dish Tomato Corn and Melon Summer Salad, here’s what ya need for dressing 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil 1/4 cup red wine vinegar 2 jalapeno peppers 2 teaspoons dried oregano, salt, for the salad 2 ears corn 2 tomatoes (chunks) 1 cantaloupe cleaned & balled 1 bunch of radishies sliced thin as ya can 1 cucumber peeled and sliced thin one red onion sliced thin 8 oz feta cheese. To make dressing in a blender combine olive oil vinegar peppers and oregano and puree until smooth, season with salt to taste and set aside. To assemble the salad remove kernels from cob in a large bowl mix corn tomatoes cantaloupe radishes cucumber and onion drizzle dressing over salad and toss again to coat then crumble feta over ttop and serve its enough for six and is a great start to a nice filet of salmon done on the grill and some garlic roasted red potatoes so pop a nice red wine and chill with your baby and watch the sun set and have massage nite for dessert “Until We Eat Again “ Captain Scotty

This month I would like to share a tech-tip concerning poor handling on 93-08 Harley Touring models (Dresser & Road-King Models). If you have noticed a rear-end sway or wobble at higher speeds or when at slow speeds and you make tight S-turns and it feels like the rear wheel isn’t following the front wheel while steering, more than likely the rubber swing-arm spacers are bad and need to be replaced. These spacers can wear to the point where it could cause you to crash and you may not even recognize why. One good test that you can perform by yourself is to straddle the bike while standing up (not on the seat). Quickly move the handle-bars back and forth about three to four inches about ten times fast. If the rear of your bike shakes or wobbles it is a clear indication that the swing-arm is loose. When replacing these spacers always have a qualified HD mechanic perform the work. In addition to this service there is a product by Progressive Suspension called a “Touring Link Chassis Stabilizer”. These are great for the handling of your bagger if you have extra horsepower or you like to run hard on the back roads. You can really feel a big difference with improved handling especially when ridding double. If you have any questions on this topic feel free to call me at the shop. Happy Motoring!

Tragic News 5 Biker Die at Clarksville TN. Toy Run Benefit. Investigators believe John and Katy Over, both 27; 32-year-old Allison Bagwell and her boyfriend 38-year-old Jim Wall and 39-year-old Tim Stone, all attending the Bikers Who Care charity toy drive, had gone to bed with the generator running too close to an external air vent on the trailer. Testing found carbon monoxide levels inside were off the charts. Katy Over taught P.E. at West Creek Middle School in Clarksville. The victims of the tragic accident left children behind. The Over’s were parents of twin eight-month-old boys &Allison Bagwell had three young daughters. They all were volunteers for Bikers Who Care, a group which ironically serves needy children.“Helping kids, that’s what we do and now we have kids in our own house who will need care,” said David Von Palko with Bikers Who Care.“The City of Clarksville has experienced a tremendous loss,” said Mayor Kim McMillan in a released statement. “The tragic and untimely death of five upstanding citizens is a blow to our entire com-munity… Our condolences and prayers go out to the victims’ families, friends and loved ones.” “Ridgerunner”
Here in Florida Both the highway safety administration and the Motorcycle Safety Foundation report that after a crash, the drivers of other vehicles involved often say they never saw the motorcyclist or were unable to respond in time. That’s what happened to Hillsbor-ough County Circuit Judge Rex Barbas.Barbas, who has been riding for decades, was hit from behind by a motorist who didn’t see him braking. He suffered a broken pelvis and two herniated disks in his back.Barbas said drivers don’t look out for motorcycles on the road. Exacerbating this is drivers’ tendencies to multitask- eat, text, talk and listen to the radio while driving, he said. The rise in motorcycle crashes has prompted lawmakers to revisit road safety concerns as the rate of crashes involving motorcycles has increased steadily over the past 10 years. Barbas said one way that driver awareness of motorcycles can be improved is by including it in driver’s education courses. He also said motorcycles need to have brighter brake lights, & even louder engines. “DonV”

We we would like to intro-duce you to Scootergoods Magazine’s official Biker Band - Lawless Intent! Unless you have been under a rock or have not been out much the past 6 to 8 months you probably have’nt seen or heard of them. Lawless Intent is with out a doubt a very high energy Rock n Roll band that has the ability to
get people up off their ass, head bobbin & toe tappin’. Band includes - Wally on lead vocals - Pauli on lead guitar - Glen on bass - Tony on drums -& Joy on high energy tambourine & backup vocals. They have built a chemistry that is unheard of in such a short period of time. We are not talking about your typical garage or bar band - they have kicked it up another level & have strived to take their music higher
yet. They hail from Jersey to Ohio & here in Florida creating southern rock with heavy duty feeling. Even if your deaf you can feel them - there is no mellow shit here! As Pauli said: “Everything - Lawless Intent style”. Last December, Pauli & Tony decided to form their own band. Right away they insisted on getting Glen on bass & said who for vocals? We have got to check this guy out that does karaoke (that’s right karaoke) - Wally. Wally never wanted the drama of being in a band, so he stuck with his karaoke but decided to try it anyway - now this became the beginning of Lawless Intent. (Cont. Pg. 67)

DUI manslaughter. In the last couple of months petitions have been circulating in several biker locations to request the Judge not to devi-ate from the maximum penalty. According to sentencing guidelines the recommended sentence is 10 years and a few months, which we feel is ludicrous, HE SHOULD GET LIFE!!!. Here is the Bullshcittery, Duncans defense attorneys had the balls to ask the Court to throw out the guidelines and sentence Duncan to only 4 years, the absolute minimum sentence allowed by law. So on September 30, 2011 we will see if justice is served for when Judge Takac sentences Bruce Duncan for the MURDER of Steve Muller. Follow up next month in the November Issue. “Crazy Bastid”
Last month we reported on the legal Bullschittery attempted in the case of Civic Leader Bruce Duncan of Tavares. Duncan was driving drunk in 2009 and took the life of fellow biker Steve Muller. Well all the judges, politicians and the houty touties Ducans legal team called upon as character witnesses had NO EFFECT. On Sept. 20th Duncan changed his plea to GUILTY of

(Brother John from Pg. 64) Last year at the rodeo Joy joined the band up on up on stage,& has been there ever sense. At the start of this I said “BIKER BAND”- yes they do ride & are one of us. They love the personal contact with the crowd & get into partying with us all. Don’t be afraid to introduce your self to any of them - they love it! Lawless Intent has already donated their time to several events to benefit veterans & will continue to do so. Visit them at their web site www.lawlessintent.com for schedules & additional information (web site built & maintained by Glen) or you can also visit them on their Face Book page maintained by Marty (Wally’s wife - MaMa Lawless). The bands schedule will also be posted monthly in Scootergoods Magazine. Most of all - get out there & see them perform at their many bookings - you won’t regret it! They already do cover songs as you seldom hear & are working on some of their own material. Scootergoods Magazine is proud & honored to have teamed up with a class act such as Lawless Intent - look for many more good things to come - they are in demand. You will see why! Brother John

The Dawg Pound ( Chris Carver Esquire) HELMET LAW UPDATESeveral months ago I wrote an article regarding the use and nonuse of hel-mets from a practical stand point here in Florida, and the civil legal exposure one would face by way of significantly reducing the value of a Personal Injury claim one might have after an accident when a helmet was not utilized. You may recall that I explained how an at fault party can escape most of the responsibility of a head injury caused by their negligence on the road if the injured party was not using a helmet. I also talked about the practicality, inconvenience, and cumbersomeness of helmet use and how it weighed against the enjoyment factor of a particular afternoon ride. What I didn’t talk about was the Legal Requirements of helmet use in the State of Florida. Most cyclist, in discussing helmet laws, refer to various States as being a “helmet State”(requires helmets) or “non helmet State” (no helmet require-ments) depending on their requirements for helmet use. In doing so, Florida, unfortunately is somewhat misleading in its helmet requirements. Although Florida has been referred to as a “non helmet” State, truth be told helmets under certain circumstances ARE required to be used by certain riders. This requirement is codified in Statute 316.211 sub paragraph(1), which states that all persons that operate or ride upon a motorcycle must wear protective headgear(DOT certified helmet) securely fastened upon his/her head. With that said, 316.211 3(b) qualifies that rule and carves out an exception to the helmet requirement rule for individuals 21 years of age or older who are covered by an insurance policy providing at least $10,000 in medical benefits for injuries incurred as a result of a crash while operating or riding on a motorcycle. Therefore, if you are 21 years and older and can show proof to an officer at the scene that you have medical payments benefits of at least 10,000, you are free from the helmet requirement under the Florida Statute. In short, Florida Statute 316.211 requires the use of helmets as a general rule, however, subsection 1 under 316.211 carves out an exception and allows anyone 21 years or older to make their own decision using helmet use or non-use as long as they have verifiable $10,000 worth of medical payments cover-age at the time they are stopped. Most insurance companies in Florida have traditionally shied away from offering PIP insurance for motorcyclist, however, this 2011 Statutory change under 316.211 has created a mark in the insurance industry and now we see larger companies such as Progressive and possibly Geico toying with the idea of offering PIP to motorcyclist, but at the same time requiring the applicant to sign an affidavit promising to utilize a helmet while riding. YEAH RIGHT. From the Dog Pound. See ya’ at Windy Acres for the big Halloween Blowout!!!

9215.5 Miles. That’s what I did last month going across country, Alone, On my 2001 Road King Classic. I rode to 24 different states taking mostly back roads. You see and experience so much more taking back roads then you ever would on the interstates. I took so many roads that truly tested my abilities.
I rode Chief Joseph Scenic Byway in Wyoming, Beartooth Highway and Beartooth Pass from Wyoming to Mon-tana, State route 16A in South Dakota, Needles Highway in the Black Hills of South Dakota, Million Dollar Highway in Colorado, Big Horn Scenic Byway in Wyoming and so many others!
Let me tell you ladies…Don’t let someone say you can’t or you shouldn’t or give you any other myriad of reasons why you should go with other people or with a man only. I did do the first part of my trip which was from Florida to South Dakota with a group of 13 bikes. All I can say is UGH. Although I truly enjoyed everyone’s company once we got to where we were going, I realized once I started the portion of my trip that I would do on my own that I would never ride long distance with a group again. Alone I could stop as often or as little as I wanted. See for me it wasn’t all about just getting place to place, it was all about the roads and the scenery and the memories I would create getting there. I could stop and take all the pictures I wanted. I could turn around if something caught my eye and I just had to go back to see it. I was able to take any road I chose and ride it at my own pace without feeling hurried or rushed. As I always say to you…Ride your own Ride! And I did… I returned home and felt renewed and empowered. I learned so much on this trip. I learned that gravel isn’t so scary although I hate it still. I learned that road construction is all done in August (or so it seemed) and that pot holes are just a way of life outside of Florida. I learned that when in Montana and you see a gas station…Top off that tank. No matter how full your tank is and I learned to follow my instincts. Seriously when embarking on a trip just use your “go with your gut” instincts. (Cont. Pg. 80)

I AGREE WITH TEXAS Officials who oversee the country’s busiest death chamber stopped the practice of requesting a last meal, on Sept 15th, now the condemned get to eat only what the kitchen serves. The schiit hit the fan in Texas after Lawrence Russell Brewer,
executed Sept. 21st, asked for two chicken fried steaks, a triple-meat bacon cheeseburger, fried okra, a pound of barbecue, three fajitas, a meat lover’s pizza, a pint of ice cream and a slab of peanut butter fudge with crushed peanuts. Prison officials said Brewer didn’t eat ONE BITE. The week before, inmate Steven Woods’ request included two pounds of bacon, a large four-meat pizza, four fried chicken breasts, two drinks each of Mountain Dew, Pepsi, root beer and sweet tea, two pints of ice cream, five chicken fried steaks, two hamburgers with bacon, fries and a dozen garlic bread sticks with marinara on the side. Two hours later, he was executed. Here in Florida The Cost ceiling is $40, according to the Depart-ment of Corrections website, with food to be purchased locally. Some states don’t acknowledge final meals, and others will disclose the information only if the inmate agrees, said K. William Hayes, a Florida-based death penalty historian. (Road Queen from 74)Seriously when embarking on a trip just use your “go with your gut” instincts. If an area or a situation just doesn’t “feel” right to you…go with that. For instance, I ran out of gas in Montana (more on that an-other time) and some nice people stopped along the way to help me. One man in particular came back on his motorcycle with a water bot-tle full of gas…enough to help me get to a gas station. I had a funny feeling about him even though he seemed very nice and had gone so far out of his way for me. In the mean time a police officer had stopped also and followed us to the gas station. While there I was standing at the passenger side of the officers truck and chatting away about my trip and I also asked him to wait because I felt uncomfort-able. While I was pumping my fuel the man who helped me walked up to the officer’s vehicle and started to tell him he didn’t have to wait and as soon as he got to the window a K9 dog named Cash came fly-ing forward growling and barking which scared the hell out of him and I. I didn’t even know it was a K9 vehicle! I had no clue that there was even a dog in that truck! But the dog sensed something he didn’t like either and that officer and I just looked at each other knowingly. Just go with your gut. I met some awesome people, rode some incred-ible roads and saw breathtaking scenery! I learned what’s necessary to bring with you and what’s not. I learned why choosing the right mechanic is so important. In upcoming issues I’ll do my best to take you on this trip with me through pictures and short stories. Till Next Month, Road Queen We at Scootergoods would love to hear from you!! Write me [email protected] Leave me your phone number and email address...Got a question? Need Advice? Just ask! We did the BANANA story last month and some readers sent in some more hints.Hangovers: One of the quick-est ways of curing a hangover is to make a banana milkshake, sweetened with honey. The banana calms the stomach and, with the help of the honey, builds up depleted blood sugar levels, while the milk soothes and re-hydrates your system. “HarleyBabe”, Clarksville TN.
Mosquito bites: Before reaching for the insect bite cream, try rub-bing the affected area with the inside of a banana skin. Many people find it amazingly successful at reducing swelling and irritation. “Sweet Pea” Lakland Fl.

You thought pickles wuz just for eatin’, right?Well it turns out they are also an effective, cheap way to clean a motorcycle chain. Ya gutta get a large pickle not one of them gerkins, but more like a Kosher dill. We found a jar of Claussen’s at the market, lookin’ right at us just waitin’ to be snagged so we bought em. So what’s the poop you ask? Get this! The brine is acidick and will immediately break down the grease and schitt on your chain, with out damaging the O-ringsl. Ain’t that some schitt, cleanin’ your chain with-with a Claussen’s Pickle!
Claussen’s pickles are not cooked, so they will be in the refrigerated deli section. Don’t Believe Me ??? It will only cost ya around $2.89 to find out. And ya can eat the ones you don’t use with a nice cold, frostyBeer. AHHHH! Pickles & Beer!!! “Crazy Bastid”

Last March, I wrote on a new tattoo that I got at the Mad Tatter. Well I saved up all my nickels & went to see Ben at the MadTatter for more ink. Again I got the same results - a very crisp clear quality Tat at a very reasonable price. As before sanitation is a priority at the Mad Tatter & got the tattoo that I wanted & expected. The photo is the tat that I got after 10 days completely healed! Prior to going to the Mad Tatter, I got 2 other tattoo’s from other locations & both of them had to be done in stages with weeks of healing time in-between (skin splitting). Needless to say - I highly recommend Ben at the
Mad Tatter for any tattoo & can not see myself going anywhere else to get any ink. Go in & see for yourself! You want the best & you will get the best without the ungodly high prices Brother John

NYC Vintage Motorcycle Show I’m Brooklyn bound today to check out some vintage bikes. Just off the corner of Genuine Motorworks on 14th Street up the block from Gasoline Alley there was a whole bunch of cool vintage bikes lining up the block. There were clas-sic BSA’s, triumphs, Moto Guzzi’s, BMW’s and so on. The party was by Works Engineering and they went all out to show everyone a good time. There were many vendors like Hell from Leather, Speedcult, Moto Guzzi’s along with live music by Bootblacks, Bezoar, Pistola, Austin McCutchen, Screamin’ Rebel Angels, Steve Lewis and the Vagrants. Just seeing old classic bikes all over the place speaks for themselves. This time I took my son Nickolas so he could take in some classic old school Brooklyn down home hospitality. Everything was mellow. I definitely recommend checking this event out if you hear about it going on. There was lots of cool graffiti around a great Brooklyn background. Did I mention free beer.
