Goals and Objectives – Four Main

1. Determine the future direction for the SOS program

2. Determine the best format of and topics for future content

3. Develop plans for assessment and evaluation at the program level and at the institution level

4. Coalesce the institutions working on SOS into a cohesive and collaborative network that is actively sharing information and content

Goals and Objectives

1. Determine the future direction for the SOS program

- Prioritize technical improvements for SOS System

- Inform NOAA on future investments in the SOS program

2. Determine the best format of and topics for future content - Determine appropriate roles for NOAA, NASA, and other content

providers* Prioritize investment: make vast data resources available for content

creation OR create a few, fully produced “movies” or stories with scripts, reference material, context, etc.

- Create guidelines for the production of SOS content - Develop an understanding of the challenges SOS institutions

encounter when trying to create content or render content- Discuss cross-platform compatibility- Determine the ease, feasibility and costs associated with the

creation of SOS-ready content from existing data visualization production lines.
