Topic home learning week 2 Here are the Science , Art , History , PE and Music tasks for you to complete this week. Our topic this term is materials. In this lesson, we will be learning about materials and their properties. We will be investigating different objects and identifying what material is used to make them. This week we are going to compare London in the past (1666) with London now. Please read through the PowerPoint and think about what you can see in pictures of modern London. What are the houses and buildings made from? What do people wear? What jobs are people doing? How do people travel? Now think about these same questions for 1666. Mild – cut out the pictures and sort the pictures into present day or 1666. Spicy – draw pictures of a house/buildings, people, types of travel and a street at night in the present day and in 1666. Hot – draw a map of present-day London and draw your own version of a London map of 1666

You are going to design your own pre-Great fire houses using strips of paper or card. If you don’t have coloured paper, you could cut up an empty cereal box or packet to make your strips. Now have a go at creating some houses and buildings using your strips, but don’t stick them down yet!

Next you can draw, colour or stick a fiery flame and smoke-filled background. Now stick your strips onto the background to create a Great fire of London scene.

Music – Listen and join in with part two of Samuel Pepys and the Great Fire of London. In this lesson you will explore rising and falling (pitch), body-percussion and mouth-sounds and actions in rhythm. You could ask your family members to join in with you to perform a round.
