Digital Lab: • Tell me 3 ways in which you can increase

the skaters speed. (Experiment with the program)

• 1) • 2) Increase the gravity• 3) Apply a force to the skater

Digital Lab: • Tell me three ways in which you can

decrease the skaters speed. (Experiment with the program)

• 1) Smaller Ramp• 2) Increase friction• 3) decrease gravity

• D) How does “Track Friction” change the skater’s path? – Allows you to speed up (by applied force)– Allows you to slow down.

• E) How does “Gravity” change the skater’s path? – Allows the skater to move down the ramp.

Page 6: Science 10 Mr. Jean April 10th, 2012. The plan: Video clip of the day. Review of digital Lab.

• F) What happens when the skater’s path is greater than 90 degrees from the horizontal axis?

• G) What happens when you increase the mass of the skater?

Acceleration: • A change in velocity with respect to a

change in time.

The Meaning of Constant Acceleration

• An acceleration in which the object will change its velocity by the same amount each second.

• Example: A constant acceleration on 1m/s2 would mean each and every second you are moving 1m/s quicker in the positive direction.
