General Assembly Instructions

• Sharpscissors.• Paper-cuttingknife(recommended:X-Actoknifewitha#11blade).• Sturdytweezerswithsmoothedges.(Tweezerswithroughedgesorteeth

willmarthesurfaceofthepieces.)• Metalrulertomakeastraightcutorscore.• Toothpicksforreachingintotinycornersandspreadingdropsofglue.• Whiteglueandgluestick.• Cuttingsurface(recommended:acuttingmat).• Drypen(noink)orbluntknifeforscoring.

TOOLSNEEDED

Usually,apieceforacardstockmodeliscutoutintwostages.First,thepieceisseparatedfromtherestofthepiecesbycuttingroughlyarounditwithscissors.

Don’tcutalongthelinesatthisstep.Oncethepieceisseparated,youcanworkonitwithoutdamagingotherpieces.It’sbesttodo

thescoringandfoldingbeforeproceedingtothefinecutting.Work on one piece at a time:• Scorealongthedottedlines.• Cutalongthesolidlines.• Foldalongthedottedlines,butdon’taddgluetoanypiecesyet.

VERY IMPORTANT: Tryoutthepiecestobegluedbeforeapplyingtheglue.Thiswillhelpyouunderstandhowthepiecesfittogether,andyouwillbeabletotakenoteofanyadjustmentsthatmightbeneeded.Thenapplyasmallamountofglueonthetabindicatedbyablackdot.

Mountain fold

Valley fold

Scorethefoldlinestomakeacrispstraightfold.It’sespeciallyimportantforthesmallestpiecestobescoredbeforefolding.Toscore,placeametalruleralongthefoldline,andthenpresswithadullpoint(adrypenordullknife)alongthefoldlinetocompressthepaper.Thiswillhelptoachieveacrispfold.

Therearetwokindsoffolds:

Mountain foldgenerallymeansthatthetextureisontheoutside,whileonavalley foldthetextureisusuallyinside.

Mostpiecesonthemodelrequireamountain fold,thoughafewuseavalley fold.Valleyfoldswillbeindicatedonthemodelpieceswiththevalleyfoldsymbol.

• Printpages5and6onWhiteCardStockpaper(sometimescalledCoverPaperorBristol),160grammes(recommended)or190-200grammes(110lbs)preferablynonglossybutwithamatfinish.

Note: Somepieceshaveextracoloraroundthem,suchaspeople’sarmsandaccessories,forexample.Foldthesepiecesinhalfandgluebeforecutting,sothatthepiecewillhavetextureonbothsides.

Simplyfoldalongthedottedlineandapplysomeglue,preferablyusingagluestick.

Oncetheglueonthepiecehasdried,cutitout.Youdon’thavetocutrightontheline,it’sfinetoleaveamillimeterortwoaroundit.

Score,cut,fold,andgluethesidefirst;thengluethetop.

Optional:Beforegluingthebottompiece,glueinasmallcointoaddweighttothemini-people.

Toformthearms:Foldinthemiddle,gluetogether,andwhendry,cutaroundthearm.

Thesmalldotindicateswheretoputthegluetoattachthearmtothebody,sotheinsideofthehandwillbeintherightpositionwiththebody.

Theseinstructionsapplytothebasicshapeofallmini-people.Somemini-peoplehaveadditionalparts.

• Be careful when using scissors or a paper cutting knife.• Glue, scissors, and other tools may be dangerous, so be sure to keep them out of the reach of young children.

Andremember,there is no hurry.

THE HELMETSimplycut,scoreandassemblethedifferentparts.Youcanalsocutoutasmallpieceofsee-thoughplastictoglueinsidethehelmettocoverthefrontopening.

An important detail,whengluingthe2thrustersontheotherpart,gluethemtoalignwiththefront.Therewillbeasmallspacebehindtheminthebackinordertoplacethebackofthehelmet.Itwillmakesensewhenyouglueit,seethedrawingbelow.

IMPORTANT: Don’t forget to glue the belt first before gluing the backpack and arms
