OUR HOME
Tamaulipas, a land full of history and traditions,
hunting, legacy of our ancestors, continues to
be passed down from parents to children. The
diversity of the state’s territory is unique, from
the mountains with oak forests, the tropical
jungle, the plains of the north and the rough
wetlands of the Laguna Madre.
Our land, land of hunters, has an incredible
diversity of species: we have the largest colo-
ny of white wing doves of the American con-
tinent with more than 15 million birds in the
heart of the State. The quail of Tamaulipas,
famous for having the fastest and most explo-
sive flight of all continues to surprise the best
hunters. Thirteen different types of ducks,
and three types of geese, millions of water-
fowls spend the winter in Tamaulipas. With
the arrival of spring, you can hear the gobbles
of the turkeys in each valley and mountain.
And most importantly, the white-tailed deer,
and Tamaulipas counts with three subspe-
cies. The most coveted by hunters is in the
northern part of the state, each season great
trophies of over 200 inches are obtained in
Boone & Crokett score.
The tourists’ treatment in the ranches and
hunting grounds provides them with a feel-
ing of camaraderie and personal attention. In
almostV every case, hunters are attended by
the ranch owners, which keeps up with Tam-
aulipas’ long tradition that makes them feel
at home.
Come to Tamaulipas and let us show you that,

GOVERNORFRANCISCO GARCÍA CABEZA DE VACA
Tamaulipas, Mexico:
The great land of hunting and fishing.
Located at the North-West of Mexico and
having the state of Texas as a neighbor, there
is in this country the ideal place for hunting
and fishing practices.
We are talking about Tamaulipas, the sixth
bigger state in Mexico, its approximate 80
thousand square kilometers surface presents
extraordinary land and water landscapes.
For its extensive natural resources, our state
has 2035 units of environmental management
of use, which are spaces exclusively destinat-
ed to the sustainable exploitation of wildlife.
There are also more than 700 active cinegetic
ranches in the entity, where species like the
wild pig, the whitetail deer, turkey and white-
winged pigeons exist among many others.
The multiple hunting and fishing events that
take place in Tamaulipas attract a large num-
ber of participants and visitors from Mexico
and the rest of the world.
The entity reached the amount of 7.1 million
foreign visitors last year.
At the start of 2018 the state commission of
hunting and sport fishing program two major
whitetail deer hunting tournaments, the first
of them is taking place in the cities of Nuevo
Laredo, Guerrero, Mier y Miguel Alemán, the
second one is for the entire state.
This year Tamaulipas will host 3 international
fishing tournaments:
13th National Bass on Boat Championship, at
Vicente Guerrero Dam next october.
1st National Beach Fishing Championship, at
La Pesca next December.
5th National Champioship of Shore Bass Fish-
ing, at Falcón Dam, next august.
Champions of each tournament are part of
the selection that will represent Mexico in
World Championships.
Also for the current year, this commission will
support close to 70 fishing tournaments, tak-
ing advantage of the extensive coastline that
it has in the Gulf of Mexico, as well as its ports,
rivers, and numerous dams.
The International Croaker and Various Spe-
cies Fishing Tournament “Copa Tam”, on its
“ground foot” modality, became Mexico´s
most important last year.
Hunting and fishing practices are one of the
great Tamaulipas vocations, a state that has
all the communication infrastructure and
tourist services, which are necessary to pro-
vide the best touristic services and attention.
Tamaulipas: The best place in Mexico to enter
in communion with nature!

SPORT FISHING
Tamaulipas has an abundant natural wealth in its 432 kilometers of coastline, dams, rivers and freshwater lagoons, which privilege the practice of sport fishing.
The state has fishing distinguished by their crystal clear waters such as the Vicente Guerre-ro Dam, Falcón International, Marte R. Gómez, Emilio Portes Gil, Spanish Republic, Las Blan-cas, Lavaderos, Pedro J. Méndez and Ramiro Caballero. They abound in species such as large carps, catfish and bass that have awarded Tam-aulipas the first place in inland sports fishing.
In these fishing lakes, different events are held with magnificent award bags that are an attraction for their visitors, in addition to the piec-es to be collected, which are above the marks offered by other places, reaching national and world records.
Sport fishing in salt water is very popular in beaches, river mouths, Laguna Madre and off-shore. The most popular sites in the state are La Pesca, Barra de Ostiones and Tepehuajes in Soto la Marina, Barra del Tordo in Aldama, La Carbonera in San Fernando and the mouth of the Pánuco River in the Metropolitan Area of the south of the state looking to catch pieces such as curvina, jack mackerel, wahoo, kite and the immense tarpons and blue marlin. Among the saltwater fishing tournaments, some highlights are the Marlin Fishing Tournament held by the Tampico Yacht Club and the Sábalo Internation-al Fishing Tournament that has been held for more than 71 years by the Corona Ragata Club.
DAMS, LAGOON SYSTEM AND A LARGE COASTLINE IN TAMAULIPAS
Tamaulipas has magnificent scenarios of water and coastline with enough capacity to carry out one or several competitions in the different sport fishing branches in both freshwater and saltwater. Among the most important dams we can mention the Vicente Guerrero, Ramiro Ca-ballero, Emilio Portes Gil, Lavaderos, Spanish Republic, Pedro J. Méndez, Marte R. Gómez, Las Blancas and the Falcón International Dam.
The Vicente Guerrero Dam, considered one of the most important in the world for sport fish-ing, is located in the municipalities of Padilla and Villa de Casas being a paradise for fishermen who have managed to capture bass over 14 pounds. During the year important fishing tourna-ments are organized, as we can mention in 2014, the tenth World Bass Fishing Championship was held, where 8 countries from different parts of the world competed.
The Falcón International Dam located within the municipalities of Guerrero in Tamaulipas and the counties of Zapata and Starr in Texas, very close to Nuevo Laredo Tamaulipas and Laredo, Texas, is an excellent option for sport fishing, finding species such as largemouth bass, catfish, tilapia and garfish.

SPORT FISHING
DAMS, LAGOON SYSTEM AND A LARGE COASTLINE IN TAMAULIPAS
Presa Marte R. Gómez also known as “Sug-ar Lake” is another of the important dams of the State of Tamaulipas noted for its large catches that have been recorded in different tournaments of bass where a large number of foreign fisher-men attend. Apart from the bass it also has sever-al species such as mojarra, carp, catfish, garfish.
In the municipality of Xicoténcatl there is the
Emilio Portes Gil Dam, excellent option for sport fishing of bass, counting on its margins with lodges that will provide everything you need for your stay to feel like home.
Located in the municipality of Aldama, the
Presa República Española or Presa El Sombre-rito, is a beautiful place with abundant aquatic vegetation where you can fish for very good
size bass. Seat of important bass fishing tour-naments. In the municipality of González, the Ramiro Caballero Dam is located, suitable for bass fishing and home to several sport fishing tournaments.
In Presa Las Blancas located within the municipality of Cd. Mier, important sport fishing tournaments are held in which fishermen have the opportunity to find different species such as bass.
In the municipality of González Ramiro Caballero Dam is located, suitable for bass fishing and the headquarters of several sport fishing tournaments. Located 180 km north of Tampico, the Lavaderos Dam, despite being something small, gives the opportunity to capture excellent weight bass.
Last but not least in the municipality of Hidalgo, 87 kilometers north of Cd. Victoria is the Pedro José Méndez Dam.

INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENTS
Club Intrnacional de Yates de Tampico A.C.
The Marlin International Fishing Tournament organized by the Club Internacional de Yates de Tampico A.C., had its origins and formally began in March , 1980 when a group of fishermen and members of the club after having had succesful experiences in open sea, made the decision of continue on a better and organized manner.
For some years now, this tournament has been held durinh the month of June, however, troughout its 37 years of existence it has been held at different dates being the weather an important factor or the behavior of the species. In spite of the region´s fhishermen that increase their number every year in this fishing category; the presence of fishermen from the cities of Monterrey, NL, Tuxpan, Poza Rica, Coa-tzacoalcos and Tecolutla, Veracurz; and Campeche as well as from the States of Louisiana and Texas from the United States have increased the number of attendants.
The prestige of this tournament has grown beyond borders and it has become very attractive for experienced fishermen since, in addition to reward the capture of marlin there is a record held here of 312 kg.
Other species are also rewarded and recognized like the Sail Fish, Tuna, Wahoo and Dolphin Fish Dorado, in benefit of the tournament and its participants.
The Tampico International Yatch Club is located on the left margin of the Panuco River, 7 nautical miles from the coast of the Gulf of Mex-ico, it has modern installations offering the services of the dock rental supplies and utilities, as well as basic services for sport boats either passing through or for repairs or safe harbor due to weather conditions, as well as links to the port authorities and customs for permits and other paperwork with them.
In addition to this well know tournament, this club organizes through the year other tournaments like the Robalo de Oro Tournament during the month of March, another for king mackerel, crevalle Jack and the International Tarpon Fishing Tounament during the month of July, all of these open to the public.
International tournament of Sabalo that is carried out by the Regattas Club Corona in the south of the state in the municipality of Tampico
This tournament is the oldest and most important in the whole country since a large number of sports fishermen from all over Mexico and abroad attend this great event.
It was done for the first time in the year of 1942 who had the initia-tive to this event was Mrs. María Buero de Bárcena.
This event has been highlighted by the great catches records. In the year of 1966 Mr. Emilio Moses nicknamed the “rooster”
caught a shad of 92,100 kg. This great record was broken after 33 long years by a great fisherman named Luciano Gómez Loredo when capturing a copy of 93,800 kg.
And in 2011 we are surprised that in the LXIV sabalo fishing tour-nament Mr. Alberto Alberto Bortoni Rhodes imposed a new record with a large shad of 102,700 kg
With a guaranteed bag of one million pesos in prizes, it is expected that the LXXI anniversary edition of the International Fishing Tounament of the Snook in the Club de Regatas Corona will be held from July 26 to 29, which will become another resounding success.
