1. 3-Column Format
a. Right Column - Reminders (related to the course EX: What to grade)
and Upcoming (Calendar includes all events in all course that may be
accessed in Group, Class, Personal, School, and Calendars).
b. Middle Column - Page viewing based on left side navigation - Recent
Activity (includes post update to courses or groups, events, or more to
Personal Blog Spot). Update can be for 1 or all classes and are great for
homework reminders (check boxes to select class(es) - attachments
include files, website, resources
c. Left Column - Navigation Panel (Menu items)
2. Calendar (left column)
a. Number of Calendars (after Month and Year to top middle)
i. Select calendars to include (EX: Personal, WHSD, Academy) by
click box in front of each selected
ii. Change color of calendar entry by clicking right arrow to right of
color box
iii. Current date is Yellow
iv. Add calendar item - click on date - complete information
requested in box (date, time, title, description)
1. Advanced: Type name of course, group, or me (automatics
goes to personal calendar)
2. Click CREATE when done
v. Changing date of calendar item - click and drag to new date (EX: a
assignment due date is changed from Sept 2 to Sept 3)
3. Courses (top menu bar)
a. Folders - make to keep organize (items to put in folders includes
discussions, quizzes, materials for student access) - set up by units
b. ONLY place for students to submit work
c. Teachers can grade and issue points for students
4. Members (left menu)
a. Listing of members - teacher has gold crown
b. Send message - click down arrow after gear icon
c. Add connection - click connection icon to left of gear icon
5. Updates (left menu)
a. Students are able to post update to teacher or classmates to answer
b. Attachments can include files, links, resources, audio/video recordings,
and polls (see bottom row of icons above)
6. Public Resources (top menu) - file on how students are expected to behave
in Schoology
7. Parents see what students see - cannot participate (VIEW ONLY)
a. Codes for parents can be printed from Course page
8. Materials (left menu)
a. Students submitting assignments
i. Upload file from desktop: Click Submit Assignment > Upload > file
icon > find file on desktop > Open > Submit
ii. Create - types directly on (save draft if not completed): Submit
assignment > Create > Type answer directly into box > Submit
(when completed) or SAVE DRAFT (if not completed)
iii. Pull from resources: Submit assignment > Resources > Select
personal or group > click on resource to import > Import
iv. Import from Google Drive (walk students through this process -
Google Drive must be installed and connected to student account.

Apps > Google Drive > Select right arrow to right of gear of file >
Import file
b. Notification options (top right) - choose what to see in notification
