Hello from Ms. Shamoon!

Welcome to 2020! I hope you enjoyed some great times with family and friends during the Winter Break! I am very much looking forward to working with all of you as a partner in the education of our students at Westmount. Our school is fortunate to have an extremely dedicated, talented, and cohesive staff that works together in the best interest of the students and takes great professional pride in seeing students reach their goals. I have truly enjoyed my first few weeks at Westmount and look forward to a wonderful year together as a learning community.

Of course, it goes without saying that I am new to the Westmount community. I have had the pleasure of working in a variety of schools in Thames Valley District School Board and this is my fourth school as an administrator. I live in London with my three sons and husband. Please feel free to come into the school and introduce yourself to me. I look forward to meeting you and working with you throughout the year.

Yours in Education,

Mrs. Amy Shamoon

Good-Bye Mr. Bruce!   We are very proud to announce that our Principal Jeff Bruce has been promoted! Mr. Bruce accepted a job with the Avon Maitland board as a Superintendent and will begin this new position in January. We would like to extend the warmest thank you to Mr. Bruce for all of his leadership and support over his five years at Westmount! You have been a very loyal “Wolf” and we applaud you and your efforts. Avon Maitland is very lucky to have you! All the best from all of us at Westmount!

WESTMOUNT PARKING LOT  The Westmount/Vanier parking spaces are for staff. With the recent snowfall, it is becoming more challenging to ensure that students are being collected in the safest way possible. With the staff increases at both schools, there are limited spaces available. Parents who park in the lot are making this situation even more difficult. Parent vehicles in the parking lot is creating a congested, unsafe situation. The biggest safety issue is caused when parents/guardians are leaving vehicles unattended in the

bus loop or double parking in the staff lot. In order to make the parking lot safer for everyone, we are implementing the following restrictions: - No parent/guardian vehicles in the bus loop from 8:30 - 9:00 am, and 3:10 –

3:40 pm - Parents/guardians are not to leave unattended vehicles double parked in

the staff parking lot In order to enforce these restrictions, we will be tagging and/or towing vehicles that are double parked or in the bus loop. We encourage parents/guardians to park at the Westmount mall. This will help minimize the congestion in the school parking lot and help keep our students safe. Please pass this information on to anyone who will be involved with the pick up or drop off of your student. Stay tuned for updates regarding our plans to change how we arrive and depart at Westmount. We will be working with community partners to promote more efficient and safe arrival and departure programs. This will be a topic at our upcoming School Council meeting. Thank you!

Westmount Food Drive

The Westmount Food Drive that took place before the Christmas Holidays was a huge success. We are extremely grateful to the many families who donated non-perishable food.

Many thanks to Mr. Clark and the Westmount Student Council for organizing the food drive this year, your leadership is much appreciated!

SNOW   Students are reminded to dress appropriately for the weather and come to school with a coat, hat, mittens and proper footwear. With the cold windchill, we want to ensure all of our Westmount wolves feel warm and protected from the elements. Also, bussing information is available on the Big Yellow Bus website for students who are bussed to school. https://transportation.mybigyellowbus.ca/Cancellations.aspx
