Report on National Conference on ‘Innovative Trends In Civil

Engineering’ (NCITCE-2018)

April 13-14, 2018

Department of Civil Engineering, Poornima University has organized a two

days National conference on Innovative Trends in Civil Engineering during

13-14 April 2018 in association with IMS Jaipur chapter, FSAI, IGBC, IWWA

and IEI. Numerous researchers from around the country participated in the

conference. With over 150 participants and 60 paper presentations, the first

national conference of Department of Civil Engineering was an over

whelming success. Conference proceedings were divided into four streams of

civil engineering viz. Structural Engineering, Environmental & Water

Resources Engineering, Transportation & Geotechnical Engineering, and

Climate change & Remote Sensing.

The sole objective of the Conference was to provide an intellectual forum

for exchange of knowledge, information and technology in relation to latest

developments & research in the field of Civil Engineering. This is the first

edition to a new series of annual academic conferences exploring how

innovations can be effectively utilized in Civil Engineering.

The conference was inaugurated with lamp lighting and garlanding ceremony

of Goddess Saraswati followed by felicitation of dignitaries and releasing of

Conference Proceedings. Chief Guest Er. S. S. Gupta (Ex-Principal Chief

Engineer, North Western Railway), Guest of Honour Prof. B. L. Swami (Dean,

Academic Affairs, MNIT Jaipur) and Dr. Abhijit Sarkar (Sr. Scientist,

NCMRWF), Dr. K.K.S. Bhatia (President, Poornima University), Dr. Manoj

Gupta (Pro-President, Poornima university), Dr. B.K. Sharma (Organizing

Chair, Dean SET, PU), Dr. Divya Prakash (Organizing Secretary & HoD),

Delegates, Researchers, Faculties and students were present.

On the first day of conference, two technical sessions were conducted. First

technical session was Structural Engineering which was chaired by Dr. Atul

Srivastava (Sr. Scientist, IITM Pune) and Dr. Gaurav Sancheti was keynote

speaker. Dr. S.S Dhindsa (Former Chief Chemist, PHED, Govt. of

Rajasthan) chaired the second technical session which was Environment &

Water Resources Engineering in which Prof. K.S. Gupta (DST Emeritus

Scientist) was keynote speaker.

Second day starts with third technical session on Climate Change & Remote

Sensing; it was chaired by Dr. Sunita Verma (Associate Professor, Banaras

Hindu University, Varanasi) and Dr. Swagata Payra (Assistant Professor,

BIT Mesra). Dr. Rajiv Bhatla (Professor, Banaras Hindu University,

Varanasi) delivered a talk related to Climate Change and Dr. Rohit Goyal

(Professor, MNIT Jaipur) talked about application of GIS in water resources.

Dr. Atul Srivastava talked about Aerosol Characteristics during Monsoon.

Fourth Technical session was on Transportation and Geotechnical

Engineering, chaired by Dr. D.K. Sharma (Prof. SKIT Jaipur) and the key

note speaker was Dr. Himanshu Sharma (Assistant Professor, IITRM

Ahemdabad).

Prof. Someshwar Das, Department of Atmospheric Sciences, Central

University of Rajasthan graced the occasion of Valedictory Session with his

informative and important talk on atmospheric sciences and its relation with

various streams of civil engineering.

The conference provided a vibrant platform for sharing of knowledge and

information among researchers, academicians, and people from the industry

in the field of Structural Engineering, Environment & Water Resources

Engineering, Climate Change & Remote Sensing, Transportation &

Geotechnical Engineering and related areas.
