MIXED MATERIALS JEWELRY - AA106-3 Instructor: Lisa OristianThis class will explore ways to incorporate unusual or unexpected materials into metal jewelry. Examples are plastic, resin, epoxy, aluminum, wood, paper, fabric, leather, etc. Students are invited to bring in materials and found objects they would like to incorporate into their jewelry and class sessions will focus on design possibilities to make it work. This is a great opportunity for metals students to learn about cold connection, to explore ways to put color into their metal jewelry and to come up with ways to make their jewelry highly personal by incorporating personal artifacts into their work. BEGINNING DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY - AA120-1 Instructor: Keith SandmanThis course is designed to help those wishing to advance their interest in the art of photography through the use of their digital camera, and the digital darkroom. Topics will include: learning to use the camera controls, improving shooting skills, optimizing the image using Photoshop, and making quality enlargements using inkjet printers. PAINTING - AA102-1 Instructor: Chris CirilloThis is a hands-on class that explores painting through practical applications and experiences that relate line, form, texture, and color, while also investigating how these visual relationships relate to the artist’s intentions and the meaning of the work. The projects will have some flexibility in order to accommodate both beginners and experienced painters. Students who want this class to have an independent study structure will be accommodated. The instructor will help each student with individual problem solving, along with brief lectures and critiques for the class as a group. ARTBOX I - CA101-1(Ages 6, 7, 8) Team-taught by Linda Foote and Lorey Zaman This program is divided into two classes. One class works for two weeks with Linda in painting and drawing, while the other class works in clay with Lorey. At mid-morning, the students will have a 15-minute snack break under the supervision of the teacher. (Please provide a snack for your child each day).

At the end of the first two weeks, the students who have been in painting and drawing class will switch to clay class and those who have been in clay class during the first two weeks will switch to painting and drawing class. Students will work from the still life and figure (no nude models), as well as self-portrait. Instruction will cover line quality and gesture drawing, negative space exercises, proportion and measuring, texture and value. Students will explore a variety of media, including: Conté, charcoal, ink, gesso and collage. SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE

Classes for boys, girls, men and women are offered in six-week sessions in ballet, jazz and tap.

To accommodate family vacation schedules, classes missed may be made up in another class during the summer.

The instructors recommend that all dance students in Level 2 and above attend at least two classes weekly. Although classes are listed individually, students should take all classes offered in their level to make the maximum progress during the summer. Summer is also a great time to try something different — be daring.

Returning students should also register for the same level they attended in the spring unless the instructor invites the student to advance.

New students are invited to discuss placement with the program coordinator. Please be advised that some changes may be made during the first week of classes.

Instructors include Nancy Long, Lynn Bollana, Debbie Evans, Kathy Ryan and Sharon Warncke.

NOTE: No multiple class discounts are offered in the summer. Students must have teacher approval to study at the Intermediate/Advanced levels. Please read the refund policy on the registration form.

Summer Dance Classes

TUITION IS REFUNDABLE only if enrolled student withdraws formally in writing through the School of Art Registrar prior to the first scheduled class meeting.

MATERIALS FOR ADULT ART CLASSESStudents supply their own materials for painting and drawing. A fee is charged to cover the cost of some materials and equipment furnished by the School of Art in some classes.

MATERIALS FOR CHILDREN’S ART CLASSESMaterial fees are included in tuition for children’s classes. It is recommended that each child bring to class an old adult shirt to use as a smock.

CANCELLATIONSThe School of Art reserves the right to cancel any class before its scheduled starting date. All students registered in a canceled class will be notified, and a full refund of tuition (and lab fee, if any) will be mailed.

LOSS, THEFT, DAMAGEThe School of Art cannot be responsible for loss, theft or damage of any student’s personal property or artwork. Student work that has been on exhibition must be collected by owners prior to the pickup deadlines specified; the School of Art cannot hold work beyond those dates.
