8 November 2013 School Newsletter Good morning and what a miserable rainy day it is! Needless to say the atmosphere in school doesn’t emulate that of outside and having walked around the school this morning, everyone was quietly working in class. I hope you all enjoyed a week away from school. I’ve been busy hearing from the children all the things they have been up to and the fireworks they’ve been to see. As usual we have hit the ground running. On Monday we had an INSET day where staff spent a long me discussing priories for the school, in parcular we looked at wring for a considera- ble amount of me and how we can connue to push children to gain the highest levels. Many thanks to those of you who came to parents’ meengs this week, we hope that you found the informaon valuable. Please can I remind you, though, that if you are concerned or have any quesons, you are able to make an appointment with the teacher at any me - you don’t have to wait unl the next parents meeng in March. Teachers will contact those of you who were unable to make it to the meengs for any reason so that we can update you on your child’s progress. Over the half term, the staff were busy preparing for Christmas at school. This year we will be holding a navity for the Foundaon Stage children, a producon for the KS1 children and the KS2 children will be doing an evening carol concert which we will be holding in the church next door. All the dates are on the dates list at the end of the newsleer and you will be receiving informaon about ckets shortly. Before then, we will be holding the Xmas Fayre so please read on for details about that, including the muſti day coming up. Now my weekly whinge about parking is going to take a different tack this week and that is to highlight to you the legal requirements for children to wear seatbelts (including taxis) and appropriate car seats whilst travelling in a car. I was horrified before half term to fol- low a Pyrford family into Woking aſter school where not one of the three children were sing in a booster seat, let alone wearing a seat belt. As you may have heard, I raised this issue in assembly with the children to make them aware that they MUST wear a seat belt in the car. It is however the driver’s legal responsibility to ensure this happens. I thought this may have been an isolated case but other parents have contacted me to say that they too have noced this issue with children from our school. The link has all the informaon and legal fines hps://www.gov.uk/seat-belts-law. Have a good weekend, hopefully the forecast will improve! Best wishes Kathryn Krynicki Headteacher Please note: There is a ‘No Dogs on Site’ rule for all school premises. This includes leaving the dog in the car park while collecng from class or aſter school clubs. Dogs need to be on the lead outside the school perimeter. We appreciate your cooperaon. Good morning and what a miserable rainy day it is! On Monday we had an INSET day where staff spent a long time discussing priorities for the school, in particular we looked at writing for a considera-ble amount of time and how we can continue to push children to gain the highest levels. Many thanks to those of you who came to parents’ meetings this week, we hope that you found the information valuable. Please can I remind you, though, that if you are concerned or have any questions, you are able to make an appointment with the teacher at any time - you don’t have to wait until the next parents meeting in March. Just before our half term

holiday, Year 2 came to

school dressed in clothes to

represent a country. They

began their day parading

their outfits in the hall.

They then took part in a

range of activities based

around their Geography top-

ic for the half term; ‘Where

in the World is Barnaby

Bear?’ These included iden-

tifying countries on a map,

Chinese writing, cooking piz-

za, flag making and aborigi-

nal painting. The children

thoroughly enjoyed their

day and have learnt a lot

about different countries.

YEAR 2 GO ‘AROUND THE WORLD’ ON THEIR SPECIAL DAY

REMINDER: IF YOU RECEIVED A ‘SEN’ QUESTIONNAIRE AND HAVE

NOT YET RETURNED IT, MRS CARRINGTON WOULD APPRECIATE YOU

DOING SO. IF YOU HAVE MISPLACED IT, THERE ARE A FEW MORE
